In short, if we condense the basis of liberation into three categories, then those who are highly accustomed to this will be liberated at the very moment of abandoning the body and the arising of clear light; those of middling capacity will be liberated in either the union or the appearance of wisdom; and those of lower capacity will be liberated in the appearance of spontaneous accomplishment. Moreover, in whichever appearance liberation is attained, it arises from the appearance until it dissolves into the dharmadhatu, so there will be no further appearances after that. Although the ways of liberation differ, due to the differences in faculties, the superior ones are liberated in three instants: in the first instant, they see their own appearance; in the second, they distinguish the differences; and in the third, they are liberated from the distinctions. The middling ones are liberated in four instants: in the first instant, their own appearance arises; in the second, they know their own sound; in the third, they abide in the knowing; and in the fourth, they are liberated from the abiding. The lower ones are liberated in five instants: in the first instant, the appearance arises; in the second, deliberation enters; in the third, they know their own appearance; in the fourth, they abide in the knowing; and in the fifth, they are liberated from the abiding. These are the instants of completing the activity. It is said that in these instants, the time of meditation varies in length. The measure of the time of meditation is based on the degree of familiarity in the interval between having previously remained in a single samadhi and before the arising of subsequent conceptual thoughts. Therefore, for those who are accustomed to meditation, the appearance of clear light will last for a long time, so they can recognize it at that time and be liberated. If there is no familiarity, the light will only appear for a moment, so it will be difficult to recognize it. Thirdly, the crucial instruction for continuing the karmic momentum in the bardo of existence, like setting a trap at a break in a dam, is: even if one has not been able to liberate in the dharmata bardo, causing the senses to become dull, for those who are diligent in this path of the great secret, the Great Perfection, Along with the disappearance of the appearance of spontaneously accomplished jewels, through the blessing of the truth of dharmata, they will be born miraculously in the realm of the self-existing nirmanakaya and attain enlightenment without experiencing the bardo. Otherwise, if one does not recognize one's own appearance in the dharmata bardo, one will enter the bardo of existence like a dream, and when the path arises, one will recognize that one has died. Recognizing that one is wandering in the bardo of existence, remembering the lama and his instructions, merely thinking, "Now I will go to the realm of the self-existing nirmanakaya," through the blessing of the truth of dharmata from before, and without the defilement of clinging to the bardo of existence, the bardo of existence will

When the karmic imprints are exhausted, one is born instantaneously in the lotus in the self-nature Nirmanakaya pure land and breathes forth. As it is said in 'Self-Arisen': 'Sentient beings who have seen the truth, even if realization has not arisen in their continuum, will abide in the ten directions of Nirmanakaya realms and ultimately attain liberation.' Also, as it is said in 'Union of Sun and Moon': 'If one sees this, will the Bardo itself appear to the last sense faculty? Or will it not appear? The appearance spoken of by the Blessed One is that the habit of self-grasping is exhausted, and one breathes forth in the self-nature Nirmanakaya, attaining Buddhahood without the Bardo.' Thus it is said. The nature of these pure lands, as it is said in 'Self-Arisen': 'From here in the eastern world, there is a pure land called Abhirati. In that Nirmanakaya pure land, there is a Nirmanakaya called Vajrasattva, which is the place where all the Tathagatas receive the supreme empowerment, and there are immeasurable qualities of palaces.' And so on, 'That palace is five hundred yojanas above the north from here. The Bodhisattvas born there also share the enjoyment with the gods of the Form Realm. The Nirmanakaya pure land in the north is also the same.' Thus, the peaceful pure lands that appear as Sambhogakaya and various forms appear in the four directions. When viewed from the front of each, there is the pure land of the wrathful deities above the center of those. As it is said in that same text: 'In the space in front of those pure lands, there is the Nirmanakaya wrathful deity pure land. There is what is called the great charnel ground, the burning mountain of fire. It is also like this. There is a square house of skulls.' And so on, 'In that palace, the Bhagavan Youthful Hero Powerful One, although not moving from the peaceful mind, appears in the form of a wrathful deity, surrounded by countless Dakinis and wrathful deity assemblies.' Thus, in general, the ten pure lands plus the central charnel ground, the burning mountain of fire, make eleven pure lands. However, here, the five pure lands that bring forth the great breath of liberation should be taken. That is, the eastern Abhirati pure land, made of precious crystal; the southern pure land with glory, made of gold; the western lotus
