Like a waterfall cascading down a steep cliff. The birth and death of beings are like lightning in the sky. They pass swiftly like a waterfall cascading down a steep cliff. Therefore, the external changes of the four seasons also symbolize one's own impermanence. In spring, seeds are sown, and sprouts emerge from the soil, just as the body is formed and gradually grows. In summer, grasses and trees flourish, flowers bloom, trees are lush, and rivers flow, just as the body is in its prime, radiant, and full of strength. In autumn, leaves fall, fruits ripen, and mountains and rivers turn yellow, just as the body's energy and radiance fade. In winter, the cold wind blows, scattering withered grasses and trees, rivers freeze, and all traces of spring disappear, leaving the mountains and rivers gray and white, just as the body's elements eventually contract and dissipate, consciousness departs, and wanders aimlessly in the bardo, I think.

Without attachment to worldly prosperity, one must cultivate the awareness of death and impermanence with heartfelt dread. Repeatedly contemplate: Will I die today? Will I die tonight? There is no certainty that I will not die right now. When seeing other beings, contemplate that they are all subject to death. The measure of proficiency is when one sees all conditioned phenomena as being of an impermanent nature, leading to discouragement. The necessity of this is to develop aversion to samsara. Second, training the mind in relation to temporary and long-term happiness: Even if engaging in non-virtuous actions seems profitable in the short term, the result is birth in the lower realms, experiencing unbearable suffering. Even if one is born in the higher realms through virtuous actions with outflows, it is still subject to change and therefore impermanent. Therefore, it is crucial to impress upon one's mind the determination to attain unsurpassed enlightenment. In the instructions of the Omniscient Great One, it is said: "Without realizing the supreme path of liberation that does not lead to samsara, it is not reliable, and this deception is great!" The measure of proficiency is when one realizes that even enjoying the pleasures of this life is meaningless and that it is of the nature of suffering, giving rise to unfeigned certainty. The necessity of this is to not be attached to the activities of samsara, such as the pleasures of this life. Third, training the mind based on various circumstances: All sentient beings desire happiness and do not want suffering. However, for the sake of even small pleasures in this life, they disregard the law of karma and accumulate only the causes of suffering, which is extremely foolish. Although hoping for happiness, they are never idle for a moment, striving for power, wealth, enjoyment, etc., but never achieving their goals. Moreover, these things can turn relatives and friends into enemies, some like them, some do not. No matter what one does, it is impossible to please everyone, and it leads to slander and blame, which is very sad. Now, one should completely abandon these and strive only for meaningful activities such as offering to the lama and the Three Jewels, and cultivating impartial compassion for sentient beings. The measure of proficiency is when such a heartfelt intention arises. The necessity of this is to have faith in the Three Jewels as a prerequisite. Fourth, actions done

Relying on impermanence to purify the mind means: My activities in this life, subduing enemies, protecting relatives and friends, being considerate and offering advice to others, gathering with relatives and friends, building residences, etc., hoping for my own happiness, my body and mind are never idle for a moment, doing all sorts of meaningless things; hoping to be better than others, worrying that my own affairs will not be accomplished, disregarding non-virtuous actions, killing, etc.; doing business for profit, deceiving, hoarding grain, etc., meaningless things are deceived by illusory thoughts, clinging to them without letting go, these are all great faults. Now, I must abandon the mind of attachment to them and keep the supreme teachings of the Guru in mind. Thoroughly renounce the phenomena of this life, just as a person with vomiting sickness sees food, this is the standard of accomplishment. Therefore, it is said that one must generate faith in the teachings and joy in practice. Fifth, relying on the qualities of the Buddha to purify the mind means: The one who has transcended all the faults of samsara is the Buddha. Adorned with countless marks and signs, turning the wheel of Dharma, with the wisdom of knowing things as they are and knowing all things, never changing, possessing the eighteen unshared qualities. The body's actions have no errors, the speech has no idle words, one does not forget past events, the mind is never without constant samadhi, regarding the nature of samsara and nirvana, there are no thoughts of separate clinging, for those who should be tamed, even if the time is ripe, one will not abandon them without examination, there is no equanimity of abandonment, these are the six summarized by behavior. Constantly benefiting sentient beings, diligence that rejoices in benefiting others, the mindfulness that sees all dharmas as they are, the wisdom that distinguishes all dharmas, the liberation that is free from all obscurations, the eye of wisdom that penetrates all dharmas, there is no clinging or obstruction to all that is knowable, these are the six summarized by realization. The body's altruistic activities, with wisdom as the guide and wisdom as the follower, combining them with speech and mind, these are the three summarized. Regarding all the dharmas of the past, future, and present, there is no attachment or obstruction to the eye of wisdom, these are the three summarized by knowledge, a total of eighteen. The cause
