。Separate saṃsāra and nirvāṇa distinctly. As it is said, the dharma-nature of beings' body, speech, and mind is originally and naturally pure, but temporarily obscured by the clinging of delusion, so from beginningless time until now, they have been continuously revolving in the six realms. The body postures, verbal expressions, mental thoughts and judgments, and ways of experiencing suffering of each of the six realms have been experienced countless times, but all have been in vain. Still attached to unfinished karma, what should be done? Therefore, now the body, speech, and mind should be separated distinctly from saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, and from now on, the root of being born in saṃsāra must be cut off. How to separate them? By making the actions that are in accordance with the karma of saṃsāra the path, one will realize the truth of evil karma, and from now on, one will be able to be liberated from attachment. As it is said in the common teachings of Secret Mantra: From conceptual thought arises conceptual thought, and existence is pacified by existence itself. Just as when water enters the ear, it should be drawn out by other water. Likewise, the conceptual thoughts of things should also be thoroughly purified. As it is said. Furthermore, go to a solitary place such as a charnel ground or an empty valley, offer tormas to the ḍākinīs and local deities, and pray that they do not obstruct the separation of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa. Now, for the benefit of sentient beings, let us separate saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, and from now on, vow not to regress into saṃsāra. Think of the heat and cold of hell, the hunger and thirst of pretas, the servitude of animals, the birth, old age, sickness, and death of humans, the fighting of asuras, the falling of gods, and other behaviors, happiness, and suffering of the six realms, such as the postures of the body, the various sounds of speech, and the suffering of each of them experienced in one's own mind. Strive diligently until the body is exhausted, the voice is hoarse and choked, and the changes of the mind are not yet pure. Then, straighten the body, let the breath relax naturally, and focus the mind on the nature of such experience, and rest. Again, with the body, present the postures of the peaceful and wrathful forms of the Sugatas; with the speech, utter the sounds of their heart mantras; and with the mind, focus on their clear images, and then maintain the self-nature of awareness. By doing so, the heat and cold, hunger and thirst, attachment and aversion, and acceptance and rejection of the body

Without, and with faith in the oral instructions of the Guru and spontaneously understanding them, and until the wisdom of mind, clear, empty, unobstructed, and self-arising, arises or manifests effortlessly, it is said that it is extremely important to repeat the practice. The purpose of these is: in general, to purify the sins of body, speech, and mind and to pacify obstacles, to turn away from attachment, and ultimately to manifestly attain Buddhahood in the Vajra of body, speech, and mind. Then, empowerments of extreme simplicity and utmost simplicity are given, and as before, one should settle here. Settling here means that the elements are disturbed by the previous separation of the Ru-shan, and resting is resting in the bed of bliss. As it says in the After-Death [teachings]: "Then, the three, body, speech, and mind, should be skilled in settling down." One should understand it as it is said. Then, to directly settle the uncontaminated wisdom in one's own mind, one should practice the oral instructions of Tögal. One should practice this instruction only if one has obtained the preliminary stages and has gained confidence in the Mother Tantra and Trekchö. This is superior to the previous one with seven distinctions. What are the seven? The distinction of the appearance of light, the distinction of practice integrated into practical application, the distinction of the direct manifestation of one's own essential point, the distinction of the body's essential point of the channels, the distinction of the seeing faculties, the distinction of one's own awareness of the object, and the distinction of the increase of experience. It is superior with these seven distinctions. The actual practice of the instruction with these distinctions has two preliminaries, common and specific. The common one has already been done before, and the specific one is to perform nine activities in three groups. As it says in Longsal: "In order to settle the essential point directly, the outer, inner, and secret activities are the nine activities of body, speech, and mind." As it is said, the first three of the body are: externally, abandoning all the activities and distractions of worldly delusion; internally, abandoning inferior virtues such as prostrations and circumambulations; secretly, abandoning all distracting movements and staying alone. The second three of speech are: externally, abandoning all kinds of worldly chatter; internally, abandoning recitations and repetitions; secretly, abandoning all speech and staying silent. The third three of mind are: externally, abandoning all deluded thoughts of the world; internally, abandoning all kinds of mental fixations of generation and completion stages; secretly, abandoning all distractions of discursive thoughts and staying in a state of non-thought.
