What kind of master is that? If you think that discursive thoughts have disappeared, look at where they have disappeared. Moreover, is this mind material or non-material? If you think it is material, then observe which of shape, color, size, function, or essence represents it. Look back at the awareness that does the discriminating. Look outward at the awareness that is the object of observation. Also, without any distraction, observe with pure wisdom whether those two are one or separate. Like this, in the process of investigating and searching by tracing back to the source, relax and let go like an old man basking in the sun or a practitioner with a bird perched on him. Again, do not let discursive thoughts suddenly run wild and fly away like a lost bird, but hold them tightly with mindfulness and observe where that discursive thought arises from. If you think it arises from the mind, then where does that mind come from? Does it arise from existence? Where is its origin? Does it arise from non-existence? Where is its target? Observe without any distraction, and relax and let go in a state where nothing is seen. Again, if discursive thoughts suddenly arise, observe as before until the root of the mind is not determined. Like this, through investigation and analysis, in a state where nothing is found, settle there, and repeat until there is no room for investigation and no final determination is made. By striving in this way, universally, the sins of the mind are purified and obstacles are pacified. In particular, because the mind's clinging recedes, one will not fall into samsara. Ultimately, one will be liberated into the Vajra Dharmakaya of the heart. Fifth, obtaining the essence from the instructions, is to settle the mind in its natural state: The body rests comfortably as if loosening the ropes of a bundle. Speech rests without artifice, like the strings of a lute being cut. The mind rests in its own state, like water cut off from its reins, without engaging in speculative searching. By resting in this way, the elaboration of awareness, such as virtue, vice, acceptance, and rejection, is pacified, and the co-emergent clarity and emptiness, like salt dissolving in water, rests without artifice in its primordial state. That is to say, whether objects appear in the mind or the mind appears in objects, what appears outwardly does not cease, and what appears inwardly should be free from the defilement of clinging. Abiding in the state of bright, clear, and naked awareness, where the appearance and mind are inseparable, and all recognition of the essence of this object and subject is cut off. Even in the post-meditation phase, whatever arises, cultivate it without expectations or worries, such as acceptance or rejection, so that whatever appears will become a companion for meditation. If you forcefully suppress thoughts, not only will they not abide, but they will also become an obstacle. Ya.

Therefore, it is important to cultivate the six consciousnesses without clinging to the appearances of objects and without being defiled by antidotes. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: "Because of attachment, etc., one enters properly; therefore, it becomes liberation; therefore, one definitely emerges from them." Also, as the Two Examinations says: "Attachment binds the world, but attachment itself can also become liberation." Also, as the Middle and Extremes says: "By relying on the object of focus, non-focus arises; by relying on non-focus, non-focus arises. Therefore, the object of focus is established as the nature of non-focus. Thus, one should know the equality of focus and non-focus." Because it is said thus. When abiding in the state of original purity, although it seems to appear, in reality nothing appears. Therefore, one should recognize awareness as nakedly transparent and cultivate in the state of original purity, awareness, emptiness, and freedom from elaboration. As Thorough Liberation says: "Because of original liberation, there is no basis for re-cultivation; because of natural liberation, there is no antidote; because of immediate liberation, it disappears in the place of seeing; because of thorough liberation, there is no need for effort." Thus it is said. Second, determining awareness, directly showing the uncontaminated wisdom, the oral instructions of Tögal have two parts. First, the preliminaries: The lama sits upright, facing east, and the disciples stand in front of the lama, with their palms joined at their hearts. Their eyes are fixed on the lama's heart center, and their ankles are together. The lama dispels obstacles with a wrathful mudra. If there is interest, one can also make a tsok offering, etc. From the lama's heart center, a blue Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) radiates to the crown of the disciple's head, passing through the net-like channels. One is instructed to visualize the body transforming into a blue Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). All the teachers and students recite Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) with a sound like diri diri. Similarly, visualize a green Yaṃ (藏文:ཡཾ,梵文天城体:यं,梵文罗马拟音:yaṃ,汉语字面意思:扬) on the sole of the left foot, a red-green Raṃ (藏文:རཾ,梵文天城体:रं,梵文罗马拟音:raṃ,汉语字面意思:让) at the navel, a smoky-colored Khaṃ (藏文:ཁཾ,梵文天城体:खं,梵文罗马拟音:khaṃ,汉语字面意思:康) at the throat, a dark blue Ai (藏文:ཨེ,梵文天城体:ऐ,梵文罗马拟音:ai,汉语字面意思:埃) at the forehead, a yellow Suṃ (藏文:སུཾ,梵文天城体:सुं,梵文罗马拟音:suṃ,汉语字面意思:松) at the armpit, a white Ha (藏文:ཧ,梵文天城体:ह,梵文罗马拟音:ha,汉语字面意思:哈) at the right knee, and a blue-black Phaṭ (藏文:ཕཊ,梵文天城体:फट,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪特) on the sole of the right foot. Visualize these eight letters, and as before, recite each letter with each breath, twenty-one times, as a protection. After performing the protection of the eight letters in this way, before awareness, one should distinguish between samsara and nirvana. As Thorough Liberation says: "If samsara is not separated, the body, speech, and mind of the three realms cannot sever the connection."
