Those who only seek the happiness of samsara and prioritize their own interests are called inferior people. Turning away from worldly affairs, abstaining from sinful deeds, and seeking only their own peace and tranquility are called intermediate people. Those who, through the suffering of their own realization, completely desire to end all the suffering of others are the most supreme people. That is all. The objects of refuge are divided into two types: inferior and supreme. The inferior refuges include: inanimate objects such as mountains, trees, castles, etc.; sentient beings such as powerful gods and other non-humans; and arrogant kings and ministers, etc. As stated in the sutras: "People frightened by fear mostly take refuge in mountains, forests, and trees. But these refuges are not ultimate, and relying on them will not liberate one from all fears." The supreme refuge is the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Because they can temporarily protect from all the sufferings of samsara and ultimately lead to the path of definite goodness, they are considered infallible refuges. As stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Taking refuge in the three, namely the Buddha, the Sangha, and the Dharma they practice, the non-learners and both, take refuge in Nirvana." Therefore, the Buddha Jewel is considered to possess the three bodies (Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya) and the two qualities of purity and wisdom. The Dharma Jewel, according to the master Vasubandhu, is divided into two types: "The teachings of the Buddha are of two types: scriptural and realized." Therefore, the realized Dharma is inherently beyond thought and expression, its aspect is the cessation of suffering (Nirodha Satya), and it is the path to Buddhahood. The scriptural Dharma, on the other hand, uses names, sentences, and words to explain the content of the former, and is the virtuous speech of white Dharma, the nature of books. The Sangha Jewel refers to the noble Bodhisattvas who reside on the great earth, and those who merely resemble them, entering the paths of accumulation and preparation of the Mahayana. Similar ones include both Mahayana and Hinayana practitioners. In Tantra, the special Sangha is considered to be the Dharma protectors with the eyes of wisdom. Regarding the benefits, the sixth branch of the Vimala states: "Returning from the practices of non-Buddhists, one will not be reborn in the three lower realms, becoming a refuge of good realms, without obstacles, with few illnesses, and of noble lineage. These are the benefits of abandoning and accumulating." Therefore, the doctrines of non-Buddhists.
