When afflicted by unbearable suffering, it is like seeking a way to be saved from it and calling out to one's parents. Similarly, even if we are temporarily born in a good realm through the results of virtuous actions such as abandoning the ten non-virtues, if we have not attained the state of liberation that has abandoned all suffering, then after the virtuous actions we have previously accumulated are exhausted, we will again fall into the lower realms and for a long time experience various unbearable and intense sufferings. The only thing that can save us from that suffering is the Three Jewels. Moreover, the Buddha who actually appears to us is the Lama, because he is inseparable from the body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas. With heartfelt determination, thinking that only the Three Jewels of refuge are our refuge and reliance, from the depths of our heart, we think like this. The place where we are, visualize it as a pure Buddha-field, in the center, a wish-fulfilling tree with five branches, its leaves, flowers, and fruits complete, filling the sky, in the center is a precious throne supported by lions, covered with various silks, on a lotus and sun-moon cushion, starting from our root guru up to Samantabhadra, seated in successive layers. On the four branches of the root guru, on the right side is the Buddha Jewel Shakyamuni Buddha, surrounded by the Buddhas of the ten directions, etc. Behind is the Dharma Jewel, in the form of stacked scriptures. On the left are the eight close sons and other Bodhisattvas, as well as the Sangha of Shravakas, the noble assembly. In front are the deities of the Yidam mandala, surrounded by assemblies of Dakinis, Dharma protectors, and guardian deities. All of these are adorned with bodies and marks, radiating infinite light and rays, possessing the compassion and power to liberate all who see, hear, remember, or touch in an instant, abiding with an attitude of joy and love towards oneself. Thinking in this way, oneself and all other sentient beings, remembering the qualities and compassion of the objects of refuge, with intense devotion and longing, take refuge. Reciting: Namo, in the uncreated expanse of appearance... etc., taking refuge as much as possible. At the end of the session, light radiates from the bodies of the objects of refuge, illuminating sentient beings.

All are led to the pure realm. Finally, all the objects of refuge are gathered into the root guru. The guru also dissolves into light and merges into oneself, abiding in the state of awareness-emptiness, free from elaboration, like the sky, which is inseparable from one's own mind. This is the ultimate refuge. When arising from that, dedicate the merit. Sixth, generating Bodhicitta: The arising of the mind that desires to attain enlightenment for the sake of others is the aspiration Bodhicitta. Merely generating this mind does not attain enlightenment, so studying its precepts is the action Bodhicitta. The way of that is: For the sake of manifesting the mind-essence of all sentient beings, which is primordially abiding as Buddha, one should think, 'May my own mind-essence also manifest as Buddha,' is the aspiration. For that purpose, one should think, 'I shall accomplish this profound path, which makes the mind-essence manifest as Buddha.' Then, one should generate it with "The expanse of the great array of appearances," and so on. Finally, placing the mind in a state without root is the ultimate Bodhicitta. Thus, all that is generated with the aspect and ritual of the mind of aspiration and action is called mind generation, which is in terms of sound.

From within that emptiness, on top of a white lotus and a moon mandala, the white Hūṃ syllable completely transforms. Oneself becomes glorious Vajrasattva, body color white, one face, two hands, peaceful and smiling. The right hand holds a vajra at the heart, and the left hand holds a bell at the hip. The right leg is slightly extended, seated in the posture of a bodhisattva. Adorned with silk garments and various precious ornaments. Radiating light that is unbearable to look at. In the heart, on a lotus, on top of a moon mandala, at the center of a five-pronged vajra is a blue Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,hum, seed syllable). On the four limbs are Oṃ (ༀ,oṃ,om, body), Vajra (བཛྲ,vajra, vajra, diamond), Sattva (སཏྭ,sattva, sattva, being), and Āḥ (ཨཱཿ,āḥ,ah, speech). Around that, the garland of the hundred-syllable mantra revolves like a misty haze. Focus on reciting the hundred-syllable mantra and the six-syllable mantra, without interruption by other thoughts, reciting as much as possible.
