There is also death. Some die by hanging themselves. Some die by being suffocated or stifled. Some, hoping for benefit, take food and medicine, etc., which turn into poison and die. In this regard, the external container world initially forms, exists in the middle, and ultimately disintegrates, after which it becomes empty. Similarly, the internal natural illusory body initially forms due to the causes of parents, exists slightly in the middle now, and ultimately dies, after which the consciousness, without support, must wander in the bardo. Moreover, the changes of the four seasons of the external climate, like the changes of the four stages of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, are similar to the waxing and waning of the youth of the internal illusory body. Among them, just as in spring, warmth arises in the earth, and sprouts emerge and grow upwards, initially this body forms in the mother's womb and is nourished upwards, and all the nutrients of the body increase. Just as in summer, all the flowers, leaves, grass, trees, and rivers flourish and thrive, the youth of the body reaches its peak, and all the luster, strength, and abilities flourish and thrive, presenting a complexion of white and red, becoming like attracting everyone. Just as in autumn, the petals of flowers wither, and all the leaves and fruits change, when one ages, the nutrients of the body are exhausted, the luster of the senses disappears, and the complexion turns pale. The teeth in the mouth fall out, the body bends and stoops, the hair turns gray, and the face is covered with wrinkles, becoming unpleasant to everyone. In winter, all the plants and rivers freeze and dry up, the cold wind blows, and all the mountain winds become gray and dusty, as if summer had come and left without a trace. When one dies, all the four elements of the body ultimately contract and dissolve, the consciousness leaves the body and wanders in a non-substantial state. Initially, when alive, it is as if nothing was done. Only an empty name remains, and the cherished corpse is abandoned like earth and stones. Or it is thrown into the water, or burned in the fire, or buried in the grave, or eaten by birds and beasts in the cemetery. At that time, if the remaining people eliminate it, they will feel most comfortable in their hearts. Moreover, everything seen and heard of death before is like a sign that one's own death will come. Life has no free time, death is like lightning in the sky.

Like a flash of lightning. Life has no certainty, like a waterfall on a cliff. Clinging to this life as eternal is like grasping a rainbow in the sky. Not knowing when one will die is like a bird flying away from a tree. At the time of death, nothing else can replace it, like the fruit on the branches of a fallen tree. Life is quickly exhausted, like a pool of water leaking from a hole in the bottom. Even for a moment, death is near, like livestock being led to the slaughterhouse. The corpse is left behind, like a stone used to wipe away filth. Consciousness wanders in the bardo, like a helpless traveler. Seeking a place for the next life is like a bee searching for a hive. Not knowing where to go is like a naked child being abandoned. The causes of death are numerous, like the branches of a poisonous tree. The harms to life are numerous, like a butter lamp in the wind and rain. Suddenly dying out of season is like a moth flying into a flame. Therefore, we, on the morning of death, even if the house we have built is very strong, we have no power to stay there peacefully. The wealth we have accumulated, in short, even if it is like the wealth of the gods, we have no power to take it with us. No matter how many relatives, friends, and attendants we have, we have no power to take them with us. Moreover, if we do not do good ourselves, we have no power to take it with us. Once we have committed evil, we have no power to abandon it. In short, relatives, attendants, wealth, enjoyments, and all desires are completely abandoned, and the good and evil deeds that we have done will follow us, like pulling a hair from butter. Alone, without even a single white thread to take with us, we must wander helplessly. At that time, the only thing that is beneficial is the supreme Dharma, and nothing else. Therefore, like a horse being startled, or a moth flying into a flame, encountering the eclipse of Rahu, or like a blind demon, what certainty do I have that I will not die right now? Externally, there are the changes of the four seasons, and internally, the migrations of sentient beings, and the order of enemies, friends, and neutrals is uncertain. Just seeing and hearing about so many people dying, and thinking about these things, I do not know when death will come to me. Secretly, from living in my mother's womb until now, the actions of my body, the expressions of my speech, and all the thoughts in my mind.
