The earth wind stirs, and fire blazes from Raṃ, visualizing the burning of the black-red ṭri at the navel, making it unreal. Then, reciting: Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Duryaka Sarva Pāpaṃ Biśuddhe Svāhā, through the recitation, the wind stirs from Yaṃ, and fire blazes from Raṃ, visualizing the burning of the blue-green Ṇi at the heart, making it unreal. Then, reciting: Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Asura Sarva Pāpaṃ Biśuddhe Svāhā, through the recitation, the wind stirs from Yaṃ, and fire blazes from Raṃ, burning the yellow-green Su, making it unreal. Then, reciting: Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Deva Sarva Pāpaṃ Biśuddhe Svāhā, through the recitation, the wind stirs from Yaṃ, and fire blazes from Raṃ, visualizing the burning of the white A, making it unreal. In short, visualize purifying even the ashes of each burnt letter, making them unreal. Then, visualize above your own crown, the nature of the body of all Buddhas, the white Oṃ; at the throat, the nature of speech, the red Āḥ; at the heart, the nature of mind, the blue Hūṃ. From these, a stream of white, red, and blue wisdom nectar descends, purifying the locations of the six letters, and contemplate that the basis of delusion of the six realms of samsara, along with the seeds and habitual tendencies, are not emptied. In short, contemplate purifying all the way down to the foundation of the golden ground of the great power. It is permissible to chant the three syllables loudly or to recite them silently, reciting about seven hundred thousand times. In short, strive until various signs of the purification of sins arise, and especially until the clinging of the three doors is purified, and the thought arises that one's own body has become as clear and bright as a polished crystal ball. The necessity of doing so is as stated in the Thalgyur: "The clear light awareness has two aspects, taught with the distinction of common and supreme." And as stated in the Klongsal: "The preliminaries of body, speech, and mind, common, special, and ultimate, should be known as having three purposes." Therefore, the seeds of sins of body, speech, and mind, and their obstacles, and the habitual tendencies of clinging to them, being purified and pacified from the root, is the common purpose. The reversal of clinging of body, speech, and mind, and the arising of aversion to samsara from now on, is the special purpose. The liberation of body, speech, and mind into the three kayas is the ultimate purpose. Third, in the actual preliminaries, there are three: settling, maintaining, and the yoga of the three doors. First, settling:

Nama Barwa says: After distinguishing the boundary between samsara and nirvana, settle the three doors of body, speech, and mind in their natural state. Also, in the Ornament of Clear Realization it says: At this time, the key points of body, speech, and mind, should be settled in their natural state by those who possess yoga. Thus, through the above preliminaries, the elements are disturbed, causing fatigue and exhaustion. Speech becomes hoarse and blocked. When the mind's movements become entangled like a tangled skein, here it is like resting on a comfortable bed. That is, the key point of the body, either the seven-point posture, or squatting, or sitting naturally, whatever is suitable, abandon the key points of the body, such as restraint and movement. For example, like unraveling a tangled skein of wool, settle naturally and comfortably. Speech is separated from all words, like the strings of a lute breaking, settle in silence. Abandon all the elaborations of past, future, and present thoughts, and like pouring out the tailwater of a mill, completely let go and settle. Second, maintaining the original state: In the Clear Expanse it says: In order to realize the truth of primordial purity, after settling into the natural state, then maintain the original state. Also, in the After Death it says: Shravakas, Bodhisattvas, Wrathful Deities, can maintain the original state with their own views alone. Therefore, all three return to their original positions, and diligently engage in practice. As it is said, that is the place where the previously clear and unattached awareness abides. Here, guide the three types of behavior—peaceful, intermediate, and fierce—in sequence, thereby learning to meditate. For example, just as one who wishes to understand the wheel of swords must first learn with a wooden sword, the principle is the same. That is, first, the view of the Shravaka: on a comfortable cushion, possessing the seven-point posture of the body, the key point of the eyes is to lower the gaze to the tip of the nose, without moving the eyeballs or blinking the eyelids, gazing loosely with a sleepy-eyed gaze. The key point of speech is to keep the breath natural. The key point of the mind is not to cut off the traces of the past, thinking about what was done; nor to welcome the future, thinking about what will be done; and not to stir up any activity in the mind, such as 'this is it' or 'this is not it', but to cut off all the searching of thoughts, and to directly abide in the self-nature of the present moment of awareness. Once accustomed to that, the second is the view of the Bodhisattva: the key point of the body is the same as before, but the key point of the eyes is to stare straight ahead into space. The key point of speech is to keep the breath natural. The key point of the mind is
