The stages involving the path of yoga are called the Completion Stage. As for what is designated as a deity, distinguishing it from the perspective of naming, the Abhidharma states: "Undying, brave, and especially steadfast; showing desire, giving, and the fourth; abiding in the body, accomplishing benefit, and being worthy of honor, therefore it is called a deity." From these scriptures, apply what is appropriate, and from the perspective of essence, there are the deities of the Dharma realm that are completely virtuous, the deities of the nature of wisdom, and those known as the blessings and signs of these. Therefore, at the very beginning, the practitioner must thoroughly ascertain what the deity that is the basis of what is to be accomplished is, for otherwise, it would only be an accomplishment without a basis for accomplishment. So, what is that basis for accomplishment? Like this, all beings abide without distinction in the nature of the deity of naturally pure essence, which is the Samaya-sattva, and the Dharmakaya of all Buddhas is the Jnana-sattva. These two abide from the very beginning in an indivisible nature, which is the meaning of the non-duality of Samaya and Jnana, like a jewel that is the basis for purifying defilements. Although this is so, because one does not recognize one's own face and grasps at differences, delusion arises, and not realizing this is like the mud that is to be purified. As it says in this very text: "The awareness that is pure from the beginning, abides as the Dharmakaya from the beginning, like a precious jewel abiding under the ground in a poor person's house; because one does not recognize it, one is deluded in samsara." Therefore, just as the jewel itself cannot perform its function unless it is freed from the defilement of mud, so too, if one does not realize the meaning of non-duality, merely being so does not bring benefit, so one must purify defilements. The method for purifying them is to purify the adventitious, imputed aspects of delusion through the generation stage, and the seed aspects through the completion stage. How does one purify? By transforming the lineage of afflictions and suffering that arises from the phenomena of delusion into the path of great bliss, and the method of transformation is by leaving the nature of the way of transformation without elimination or establishment, through the key point that the nature of whatever arises appears as pure appearance. For that reason, in this vehicle of Secret Mantra, the nature of the truth of the origin appears as the path truth, and the nature of the truth of suffering appears as the cessation truth, therefore it is the fruit.

Since it is the meaning of operating as a path, the Atiyoga is more excellent than the path of abandoning, concealing, and practicing the ground in the characteristic vehicle. Then, what is the so-called naturally pure deity like? The clear light Bodhicitta, the empty and clear unobstructed reality, possesses the three wisdoms, namely, the essence, nature, and compassion, which are inherently present. As it is said in Atiyoga: "Of all conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, the reality is the union of the three wisdoms." Also, as it is said in the Heart Drop: "The ground-abiding awareness, essence, nature, and compassion, these three are the essence of the Sugata, the three bodies are said to abide spontaneously." Bodhisattva Vajra Dharma also said: "Thus, the nature of mind manifests in various ways, all phenomena of existence appear, the realm of the naturally pure deity, the play of the deity, the body of the deity, likewise, all other phenomena, are inherently the nature of the deity, therefore, it is highly proclaimed as the ground of the deity." It also says: "Aggregates, elements, and other sense bases, are inherently the nature of the deity, uncreated." Therefore, the reality is defined by the meaning of being free from bondage and liberation from others, the essence of all Buddhas by being the essence of all Buddhas, the Dharmakaya by the emptiness aspect of mind, and the qualities of the Rupakaya are fully possessed in the appearance aspect, but it does not transform into Buddhahood because the impurities are not purified, as the naturally abiding lineage or the essence and the Tathagatagarbha with impurities, etc., and the naturally pure or Bodhi, etc., by the impurities not staining the nature. Especially in this mantra vehicle, Kriya considers the self to be Suchness, Ubhaya considers it to be Bodhicitta, Yoga considers it to be the Bodhicitta without beginning or end, or the Bodhicitta Samantabhadra, Maha Yoga considers self-awareness to be the Bodhicitta inseparable from the realm of activity or the great Dharmakaya of ultimate truth inseparable, and Anu Yoga considers the son of indivisibility of realm and wisdom to be the great bliss, the mandala of the root Bodhicitta. Vimala said in the Secret Drop: "That which exists should be known as eight aspects." As it is said, it is said that in the heart of sentient beings, the mind of clear light Dharmakaya Bodhicitta abides, based on the gathering of the five essences, and other impure phenomena gathered by the aggregates, elements, and sense bases.
