One should confess in the presence of (the guru). The rest should be confessed according to their respective situations, through confession and protection. If a great fault has been committed, no matter which circumstance it depends on, one should first confess according to their respective rituals, and then re-receive the empowerment and vows. The meaning of empowerment and vows is also explained in the part that elucidates the characteristics of practitioners, slightly separating and explaining the subsequent meaning of "having received empowerment and possessing vows." Secondly, the order of how to practice is: There are three stages of practice, namely, "According to the order of wisdom, the generation stage, the completion stage, and the great perfection, the three yogas are truly taught." Here, with regard to this very method of practice, there are three yogas; with regard to the common aspect of the generation stage and the completion stage, there are also three yogas. Therefore, the stages of practice can be divided into two sets of three. If we explain it with regard to this (method of practice itself), according to the order of the practitioner's wisdom, the path of the vase empowerment is the outer practice, the secret instruction of recitation is the generation stage, the inner practice that corresponds to the path of the secret empowerment, and the secret practice that corresponds to the path of the wisdom empowerment are the completion stage, and the extremely secret, which corresponds to the path of the fourth empowerment, is settling the mind in (dharmata), which is the Great Perfection. The inner and secret practices are the extremely profound body mandala, and the extremely secret is pure mindfulness. In reality, it is the subtle yoga of the generation stage itself, however, because it has the special cause of generating the wisdom of the completion stage in the continuum, it is established as completion and Great Perfection. This is according to the corresponding aspect. If we consider the common aspect of the generation stage and the completion stage, it should be known that the four mentioned earlier are all included in the generation stage related to the vase empowerment, and become the basis for each completion stage. The outer practice is the basis of the body vajra, and similarly, the inner practice is the basis of the speech vajra and tummo. The secret and extremely secret are generally the basis of the mind vajra, and in particular, the former is the path of means and the latter is the basis of Ati. These also, according to the order of wisdom, first visualize oneself, the deity, and the three objects of focus as the mandala of the union of appearance and emptiness, which is the outer practice. Then, because it is related to the body mandala tummo, visualize the body as the deity body of luminosity and emptiness, which is the method.

The inner practice and the secret practice of visualizing the mind as the deity of bliss and emptiness in connection with the bliss and emptiness of the body mandala, and the extremely secret practice of visualizing the nature of the three doors as the indestructible deity, these are the generation stage of outer, inner, and secret oneness. The actual completion stage is the three vajras of the root guidance, and its branches, such as inner heat, skillful means, dreams, clear light, transference, etc., are the completion stage, and Ati is the Great Perfection. Thus, the actual generation and completion, and the difference of the completion stage in accordance with it, these two sets of three yogas are also explained correctly without error in the order of the dependent and the depended upon. Therefore, in the yoga with signs, it is said: Relying on the former, the former, the latter, the latter, should be accomplished. As it is said, the generation stages such as the outer practice should be learned sequentially to the end, and then enter the completion stage. It is practiced with empowerment and instruction in the manner of the dependent and the depended upon. However, this is not the only certainty. At first, after becoming somewhat familiar with any of the expanded or condensed generation stages, such as the outer mandala, later, it is also possible to meditate in the manner of combining the generation and completion stages as the actual practice. Moreover, there may be those who have the potential for the wisdom of the completion stage to arise in their minds without relying on the generation stage, so there is no objection to teaching the completion stage to such fortunate ones from the beginning. That not learning the generation stage is the path, because one will learn the generation stage led by the completion stage, and after the completion stage is completed, there is no need to learn the generation stage. Therefore, the Sanskrit word for the generation stage is Utpattikrama, where Utpati means fabrication or imputation, etc., so it means newly fabricated or imputed by conceptual thought, which is generation, and the basis from which it is fabricated and established is the completion stage, whose Sanskrit word is Nispannakrama, where Nispanna means unfabricated, accomplished, complete, etc., so it means spontaneously arising without fabrication. The Krama of both of these means sequence, that is, the meaning of the order of method or path, so the path of the deity yoga with its retinue, which is fabricated and imputed, is the generation stage, and the deity that appears manifestly, free from fabrication.
