Then, rays of light emanate from there, passing through the central channel, from the position between the eyebrows, together with the air from the nostrils, spreading outwards, filling the entire external world and the sentient beings within. Therefore, all appearances of the external world and the sentient beings within are purified into the nature of light. When the air enters, visualize the external world and the sentient beings within dissolving into the form of light, and then gather them back, accompanied by the sound of Om (藏文:ༀ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om), passing through the central channel, and subtly dissolving into the indestructible bindu in the heart. Visualize the sound of the air transforming into the sound of Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:Ah), abide in that state, and practice recitation without distraction. Sometimes, if the air is made to flow in and out through the central channel, synchronized with the nasal air, and done through the Brahma aperture at the crown of the head, it can eliminate previous obstacles. But if it is done too much, it is like transference of consciousness, so one must master the amount of practice. It is said so. Furthermore, the three letters of visualizing the form and reciting the sound belong to the generation stage. Here, the letter of the completion stage is that the air and mantra are inseparable, and have been established from the beginning. Therefore, the recitation of the three syllables that are used as the path in accordance with that is: the five airs, mainly the life air and the downward-moving air, enter through the nostrils, and the natural sound of the air performing the three functions of dwelling, abiding, and rising is also naturally present as the sound of the three letters. Therefore, through the symbolism of the three syllables, it is certain that the three functions of the air—entering, dwelling, and rising—are bliss, clarity, and non-conceptualization. Recite by knowing that the nature of the three—air, mantra, and mind—is inseparable, and that they are the primordial body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas. When the air is purified, the experiences of bliss, non-conceptuality, and clarity will mainly arise in sequence during the three functions of the air—entering, dwelling, and rising. The third is: As a result of meditating single-pointedly in this way, the air flows constantly in equilibrium, and then the number of entrances and exits, without examining them, flows clearly and slowly. When it becomes subtle, prolong the recitation of the letter A (藏文:ཨ,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:A). This means that if the air is inhaled too forcefully from the beginning, the breasts will swell. If pressed with great force, the head and upper body will ache, the forehead will protrude, and the crown of the head will itch or holes will appear. Therefore, until the air is purified, the three functions of rising, entering, and dwelling must be balanced. Like that.

By focusing solely on Vajra recitation and diligently practicing, the breath will become gentle and smooth, like not feeling its movement at all. If it tends to stop or does stop, do not be afraid, awaken it with the fragrance of incense. If that doesn't work, awaken it with the sound of a bell and hand drum. If that still doesn't work, placing a cold stone on the heart will surely work. Dreams will also become gentle and smooth, and awareness will be clear. The breath in the nose will not move, but will only flow evenly, and the breath will constantly flow. From then on, even without specifically counting the number of breaths going in and out, one will clearly perceive the flow, and the flow will become slow and long. When the breath becomes subtle, practice lengthening the time of dwelling within by reciting the syllable Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ah). By doing so, the two inward breaths will naturally become shorter, and great benefits will arise, so one should strive for this. The Vinaya-samuccaya says: The yogi, by equipoise, should count the entering breath. As many as a hundred thousand, etc., constantly recite without sound. When the practitioner completes a hundred thousand recitations without sound, even if life is diminished by five years, there is no doubt about living in this life. Also, the Vajra Heart Commentary says: Six hundred thousand in a month, forty thousand and eight thousand likewise, by reciting the life mantra, accomplishment will be attained. It is said that by doing Vajra recitation for the 21,600 breaths of a day, one will accomplish one million eight hundred thousand in five days, and six hundred forty-eight thousand in a month. From the first day of the dark moon to the fifteenth, it is said that one will achieve accomplishment by striving in the life recitation. From the time of dawn, accomplishment will be attained on the full moon day. After prostrating to Vajrasattva, the wheel of Dharma will be turned. So it is said. Third, the signs of having practiced in this way are: At that time, in the bindu where the breath stops, other appearances vanish, like a cloudless sky, such a clear emptiness appears. Having become accustomed to that, by the Vajra recitation, different from the previous signs, in the central channel the breath abides, mirages, etc., stable signs arise in order. The sign of a cloudless sky, seeing this is the sign of having become accustomed. So it is said. That is to say, one should persist for a long time with the Vajra recitation itself that was just mentioned.
