Henceforth, generate a strong aspiration to reach it with mindfulness from time to time. In a state of not thinking about anything, gather awareness. Repeatedly observe with awareness whether the mind is abiding or not abiding, whether it is scattering or not scattering. In this way, the downward scattering will become smaller and smaller, and soon you will become clear. Furthermore, for a state where awareness is scattered and does not abide for even a moment, after abandoning the effort of meditating for just the time it takes to eat a mouthful of food, temporarily contemplate your own body as a black stone that is extremely heavy, has a smooth luster, and makes the lower body heavy and oppressive. Then, by resting in the state of non-elaboration as before, it will become stable. In any case, abandon welcoming the past and future, as well as analytical meditation that examines the present awareness, and intellectual discriminations decided by the intellect, such as "unborn" and "emptiness." As before, rest in equanimity in the profound, objectless expanse, and repeatedly meditate with one-pointedness. As the venerable Shavaripa said: "Do not regard anything as a fault, and take up what is not anything. Do not desire signs of warmth and so on. Although it is taught as non-meditation, do not indulge in laziness and distraction. Always accomplish it with mindfulness." Here, some people may become accustomed to non-conceptualization from the very beginning, and even if they can achieve shamatha alone, they do not value the vipashyana practice of analyzing with individual discriminating wisdom. Therefore, there is no way to realize the two selflessnesses. If the two selflessnesses are not realized, then the ignorance that is the root of samsara will not be reversed. In response to this, there is no fault. In this way, by training in the practice of non-conceptual samadhi, when will one realize the non-conceptual wisdom of vipashyana? That itself is individual discriminating wisdom. If it is only conceptualization, then the emptiness that it analyzes is said to be without essence. In the first case, it is said: "From solitary places of body, speech, and mind, non-conceptual samadhi will definitely arise. From the arising of non-conceptual samadhi, non-conceptual wisdom will arise." In the second case, it is said: "The emptiness that analyzes the aggregates is like a water tree, without essence. The most excellent emptiness that possesses all aspects will not become like that."
