Since one cannot awaken immediately, it is difficult to generate the experience of the actual path immediately. Even if it arises slightly, it is slow, weak, and does not grow. If one newly accumulates special virtuous deeds, it will awaken the virtuous imprints, thus causing realization to arise quickly in the mindstream and be powerful. Therefore, the method of accumulating great merit with little effort is the ritual of offering the mandala, which includes: generating the mandala of the field of merit, offering the mandala of offerings, and its signs and benefits. First, as stated in the "Key Instructions": "Meditate on the field of merit as the refuge." That is, from each preliminary practice, in this life of maturation and liberation, one must newly meditate on the field of merit as the refuge. When merely meditating on the stage of faith and entry, without gathering the previous refuge and leaving it as it is, then it serves as a witness at the time of generating bodhicitta, and as a component of the object of confession at the time of purification, and here as the mandala of the field of merit, it is convenient in practice. Second, it says: "The outer, inner, and secret mandalas of actual wealth and mind-created forms, offer with reverence and wisdom." Therefore, the mandala of offerings has two types: those made of actual wealth and those created by the mind. Those made of actual wealth are: if the material of the mandala is made of precious jewels such as gold and silver, it should not be smaller than four fingers; if it is an ordinary jewel such as a cane, it should not be smaller than a span; if it is made of inferior materials such as clay or wood, it must not be smaller than a cubit. It is said that if these are not available, tiles or the like can also be used. Regarding the grains of the heap: if one is wealthy, one should not merely supplement the previous ones, but each time clear away the previous grains and then place them anew. The old grains should be gradually accumulated and later offered to the lama and the Three Jewels, and not used by oneself. If one does not have wealth, one can only double the previous grains and offer them. It is also customary to accumulate the essence of the grains and offer them at the time of the mandala in the next Dharma session. Perfumed water should also be applied alternately to keep it moist, and one should not be sloppy. The way to offer is: hold the mandala in the left hand with a small amount of grains, symbolizing the stainless nature of the mind, and wipe it carefully; symbolizing the moisture of compassion and bodhicitta, mix perfume and the five products of молокопродукты (transliteration)
