And, the karma created by oneself will never be exhausted unless destroyed by the antidote, possessing four characteristics. In particular, a stained cloth cannot be dyed, and only after the stain is removed can any color be applied. Similarly, if the obscurations of one's own mindstream are not purified, genuine samadhi will not arise in the mindstream. Even if it arises slightly, there will be obstacles and decline, and ultimately it will not be accomplished. Therefore, obscurations are the most significant obstacle to the arising of the actual meditation in the mindstream. Therefore, one must strive to practice the meditation and recitation of the glorious Vajrasattva, the lama, which is a supreme method like chasing away a hundred birds with one stone, and is the antidote for purifying obscurations. For this, it is necessary to identify the object to be purified, what the antidote for purifying obscurations is, and the signs and benefits of the purification of obscurations. First, as it is said in the scriptures, "Desire, hatred, and ignorance, the actions generated by them are unwholesome." Therefore, all actions generated by the three poisons of desire, hatred, and ignorance are sinful and unwholesome actions. And the true essence of karma is the mind, and the consciousness corresponding to it.
