Imagine countless beings covering the earth like dust. With unified devotion, all beings, including myself, with great respect in body, speech, and mind, along with all sentient beings as vast as the sky, pray for protection at this very moment. (Tibetan) After taking refuge three times, the refuge field dissolves into light and merges into oneself. Then, rest in equanimity and dedicate the merit. If only practicing refuge, when sleeping at night, instead of visualizing the field of merit accumulation, rely on the refuge field as support and sleep. It is said that in this way, all day and night become refuge practice. If interested, one can also explain the precepts and benefits of refuge. Fifth, the instruction on generating the supreme Bodhicitta, which distinguishes the inferior path: The root verse states: All beings in the three realms are parents, friends, and enemies; there is none who has not been a mother, so abandon all partiality; may they have happiness and be free from suffering; enter the path, and those who have not been liberated in the past; generate the mind to lead beings, exchange happiness and suffering, and protect them with immeasurable compassion from the heart. As it is said. Just as this ten-directional sky has no measurable end or center, so too does the world have no end or limit. All of it is filled with sentient beings of the six realms without any gaps. In this, from beginningless samsara, I have taken countless births. Each birth forms a body, and there is not one of these beings in each body who has not been my parent. Now, all these beings desire happiness, but they only create the cause of suffering. Their desires and actions are completely reversed, which is truly pitiful. But what good does it do to just have compassion? Therefore, just as I would be carried away by floodwaters and need to be rescued by a boat or rope, I will attain perfect Buddhahood in this life and place all sentient beings in the ultimate bliss of liberation. For this purpose, I will practice this profound path, the profound Dharma, the instructions of the Dzogchen Heart Drop, and I will definitely place all sentient beings on the ground of perfect Buddhahood. Generate immeasurable compassion, and vocally recite: Ho! (Tibetan) Recite at least three times.

After doing the giving and receiving of happiness and suffering combined with breathing in and out, generate Bodhicitta, meditate without focusing on anything, and then dedicate the merit. Here, the benefits and teachings of Bodhicitta are also explained. Secondly, among the three essential points of the uncommon preliminary practices of the Mantra path, the first is the guidance on the Vajrasattva meditation and recitation for purifying sins and obscurations, the root of which is: To completely purify the sins and obscurations accumulated in all lifetimes, as well as all non-virtuous actions and afflictions, meditate on the Guru Kunsang Vajrasattva. On a lotus and sun-moon cushion above the crown of an ordinary person, etc. This is because the biggest obstacle and hindrance to meditating on the profound path is sins and obscurations, so in order to purify them, the Vajrasattva meditation and recitation should be done as a preliminary practice. Think: On the eight-petaled white lotus above the crown of my ordinary head, there is a moon cushion, and on it, visualize a white "Hūṃ" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: Hūṃ). From that "Hūṃ" emanates light, which gathers back and transforms into my kind root Guru himself appearing as the Bhagavan Glorious Vajrasattva, with a white body, holding a vajra and bell, adorned with silk and jewel ornaments, with his legs in the vajra posture. The consort Vajrasattva, white in color, with one face and two arms, holding a curved knife and skull cup, embracing the father. Adorned with silk and jewel ornaments, residing in the nature of bliss-emptiness union. After visualizing this clearly, visualize on the moon cushion in the heart of the father, there is a crystal white five-pronged vajra, with a "Hūṃ" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: Hūṃ) in the center, surrounded by a garland of the hundred-syllable mantra. In general, meditating on the Glorious Vajrasattva has the power of reliance, the power of regretting past actions, the power of turning away from sins, the power of restraining oneself from committing sinful actions even if one's life is at stake, and the power of using the meditation and recitation of the hundred-syllable mantra as an antidote to past actions, that is, the power of universal application. Remembering these four powers in this way, diligently supplicate the hundred-syllable mantra, and from the deity and mantra, the nature of Bodhicitta nectar descends like a torrential rain, so that all diseases transform into pus and blood and mucus, all evil spirits transform into the forms of living beings, and all sins and obscurations transform into the forms of coal tar and smoke, flowing out from all the doors of the senses and pores, like a flood washing away ashes, and one's body becomes a crystal ball.
