Abandoning the elaboration of examining the merits and demerits of what is not good, relax and abide without fabrication or distraction in the object of focus to which you have entrusted yourself. If you abide in that, it is sufficient, so look at its own nature right there and relax and abide without fabrication or distraction. If you do not abide in that, and many thoughts scatter like snowflakes, then completely cut off the scattering and place it on the previous object of focus. Also, if you cannot abide due to being too tense, then relax your body posture as well. Lower your gaze and establish the vigilance of mindfulness so that awareness is not distracted in its natural state. In this way, the object of focus and your own awareness should in no way become the seer and the seen, but should be placed in the sphere of non-conceptual clarity of union. If it becomes dull, then stay in a high place and eat a little less food, straighten your body posture and put effort into awareness. Focus your gaze and raise your awareness, looking with one-pointedness. Again, if it is agitated, then stay in a low place and eat a little more food, and also relax your body posture. Lower your gaze. Relax from the depths of your heart, relax in a natural state, and abide with the vigilance of non-distracted mindfulness. The way to abide in these should also be known in the following (practices). These are the warm words of the incomparable kind guru, the chief of the dakinis. Similarly, for clear sounds, fragrant smells, etc., and for the three places of the natural arising, abiding, and dissolving of breath, it is sufficient to just entrust awareness, relax and abide without thinking anything, or to blankly abide without support, etc., abiding on any one of these. For those who are training disciples, it is like the root treasure words, and for those who are seeking meaning, it is also made into profound key instructions. If it is difficult to abide in these, here is a vajra statement that does not appear in the root texts and guidance manuals, etc. This is the oral instruction of the great treasure revealer vidyadhara, it is unique. On that, clearly visualize a white drop the size of a Tibetan bean on the tip of your nose. If you feel discouraged, the way to adjust, the way to practice, etc., are the same as before, so practice in that way. Also, if it is difficult to abide in that, practice the vajra recitation combined with the three places of the entry, abiding, and rising of wind, in a way that the mind is not distracted elsewhere. Also, if it is difficult to abide in that, in the sky directly in front of the space between your eyebrows, the syllable (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ,Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,Literal Chinese meaning: 吽)

Focus your mind on whichever is easier to visualize, either a blue "Ig" (Tibetan: ིག་) or a white "Om" (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, literal Chinese meaning: Om). If it's difficult to remain focused, direct your awareness to the natural, unaltered breath as it goes in and out, and concentrate on counting each full cycle of breath. If it's still difficult to remain focused, direct your awareness single-pointedly on the breath as it goes in and out; as the breath goes out, direct your awareness outward, and as the breath comes in, direct your awareness inward. If it's still difficult to remain focused, visualize a small white dot, about the size of a Tibetan bean, at the tip of your nose. Once this dot appears clearly, visualize it moving outward with the breath from your nose, and as the breath comes in, visualize it coming back to the tip of your nose, barely there, and then focus on this. If it's still difficult to remain focused, adjust your posture according to the general seven-point posture, except place your hands on your knees with your fists facing down, keep your body straight, and keep your eyes straight ahead. Then, focus on the four-step vase breathing. If it's still difficult to remain focused, visualize a small red dot, about the size of a Tibetan bean, at the tip of your nose. Once this dot appears clearly, direct your awareness single-pointedly on this dot, and visualize it moving outward with the breath. As the breath comes in, visualize it coming in from the left nostril and stopping at the navel, appearing slightly red, and pause there briefly. Then, exhale through the right nostril, going back and forth as before, and focus on this. Again, adjust your body, adopting the seven-point posture, this time placing your hands on your knees with your palms facing down, keeping your arms straight, and keeping your eyes straight ahead without moving. Expel stale air. Then, repeat the same visualization about three times. After that, in conjunction with the four-step vase breathing, direct your awareness single-pointedly on the dot moving in and out. In this way, by focusing on the natural flow of breath and combining it with vase breathing—these two characteristics combined—ordinary thoughts will gradually cease, and single-pointed calm abiding meditation will quickly arise. By meditating in this way, you may initially feel that more thoughts are arising, but without looking at the good or bad, continue to practice, and the thoughts will gradually subside, and your body and mind will feel comfortable, your complexion will brighten, your speech will be gentle, and you will be able to focus without conceptualization on the object of your meditation.
