Therefore, the definitive connection for attaining the state of Buddhahood on the path of no more learning is merely establishing a connection. The future attainment of that state also depends on not violating vows and having all the conducive conditions for practicing the two stages. In such a case, it will definitely be attained in this life or at the latest between lives in the next life. Moreover, even from the perspective of path empowerment, a particular empowerment itself is not necessarily the direct cause of a higher path. For example, it is not always necessary for an individual abiding in the accumulation and application stages to receive an external empowerment lineage at the time of entering the path of seeing. However, since it merely establishes a connection, becoming the cause and effect that connects to the higher path, these divisions of stages are also mainly considered from the perspective of the primary factor, and are not absolutely fixed. In general, there are three types of empowerment: cause empowerment, path empowerment, and fruit empowerment. The times for bestowing these three empowerments also differ. Cause-time empowerment must be bestowed first, because it is the empowerment that ripens what is not yet ripe. If so, it must be bestowed before practicing the path. Path-time empowerment must be bestowed when the time is right, because it enhances the effectiveness of the path. If it is a path-time empowerment, then it must be an empowerment that increases and expands the previously ripened continuum. No matter how much it increases, it is newly obtained from that empowerment, but since the nature of the vows obtained is not different, the term "ripening" is not used. Fruit-time empowerment must be bestowed at the end of the ten bhumi continuum, because it connects to the ultimate fruit. Therefore, the previously mentioned prior empowerment belongs to the category of fruit-time empowerment, while the cause and path empowerments are subsequent empowerments. Here, it is explicitly stated that the four water empowerments are bestowed sequentially on the four paths of learners. Although the master calls it the empowerment of the subsequent path, even so, the first three are actually path-time empowerments, while the last one has both real and imputed aspects. In general, there are two possibilities: merely the empowerment bestowed on the final path practitioner, and specifically the empowerment that connects the end of the continuum to one's own higher path. Therefore, the latter becomes a fruit-time empowerment, but is still classified as a path empowerment.

Therefore, it is called that. Furthermore, if it is the path empowerment, it is all-pervasive because the cause empowerment has already occurred before it. The maturing empowerment also appears to be propelled by momentum. When the teacher uses the term "empowerment for subsequent beginners," although it has elements of both cause and path empowerments, if it is considered as the main aspect, it will become the cause-time empowerment. Secondly, explaining the specific meaning of the subsequent empowerment: Here, the empowerment for subsequent beginners is the most important. It has three aspects: the nature of the empowerment, the definition, and the divisions. Firstly, the nature of the empowerment: As it is said in the Hevajra Tantra, "By whom, to whom, what is conferred, empowerment is for obtaining the power of the tantras." The meaning of this should be understood from the determination of the three, agent, object, and action. The agent is the Vajra Master who possesses the qualities. The object is the continuum of the qualified disciple whose continuum has been purified by preparation. The action is the empowerment of the special ritual that combines the three, substance, mantra, and samadhi. The object is that the disciple's aggregates of thoughts are originally complete as the mandala of body and wisdom, thereby recognizing the self-abiding wisdom itself. Therefore, whatever obscurations of one's own lot are naturally purified or diminished. Through the two stages of the path, the ability to actually generate or definitely generate wisdom is matured, thereby transforming the continuum. So, what is to be obtained? On each of the empowerment substances that are similar in cause and form to the corresponding cause of each empowerment, the qualities of the result of the complete Buddha are also, on the corresponding cause, the wisdom that is fully established by that counterforce that has become its own nature, and the self-abiding wisdom that is not different in nature. As it is said in the secret instructions of empowerment, "The wisdom that blesses the substance, and the attainment that is not different from it, is called the nature of empowerment." Therefore, it is said. Secondly, the definition: Derived from the word Abhiṣiñca in Sanskrit. Abhi means manifest or apparent, and ṣiñca means to pour, wash, or like pouring water. Therefore, because of manifestly pouring, it is called empowerment, because it pours and washes away the gross and subtle impurities of the three doors to be purified. Because of manifestly pouring in, it is called empowerment, because it has the ability to make the path suitable for meditation and the fruit attainable.
