Thus, what is said as a method of guiding beings by the emanations that tame whatever is to be tamed, are the three vehicles that guide all arising; and what realizes the meaning of inner absence of characteristics through the asceticism of outer body, speech, are the three vehicles of outer mantra asceticism. These six, having accomplished the ultimate, each attains the fruit to be attained by its own path. Ultimately, one who freely wields awareness over all phenomena, and even though making use of afflictions, is not bound but liberated, possessing skillful means, is the empowering vehicle of means. Or, since mind itself self-appears as the mandala of body and wisdom, without seeking accomplishment from elsewhere, but establishing it as self-arisen wisdom, it is therefore known as inner tantra. In order to enter the unsurpassed path of the union of unchanging bliss, great compassion, and emptiness endowed with all perfections, the three vehicles of generation and completion stages, one must be joined to the ultimate fruit. The single path traveled by all sugatas of the three times is the most supreme, therefore what reaches the peak of all vehicles is the inner mantra generation and completion stages. Among them, here, is the connection between the generation stage Mahāyoga and the completion stage Atiyoga, the completion stage Anuyoga Great Gathering Sūtra, which is the most profound and vast among all tantras and scriptures, is what is to be explained. In general, according to the system of Anuyoga, the basis to be realized and the path that realizes it are summarized into three yogas and explained. As it is said: In the General Sūtra: Friends, what is the inconceivable aspect? It is said that the aspect of all inconceivable dharmas is completely explained by three yogas. What are the three? They are the yoga of action, the yoga of performing action, and the yoga of no action. And as it is said in the Root Tantra Gathering All: Know that all dharmas are contained in three yogas. What are the three? They are the yoga of cause, the yoga of condition, and the yoga of result. Thus it is proclaimed, and the meaning of the texts of these two root explanatory tantras is summarized into one intention, and the name is established as:

In the commentary prophecy, it says: All the many dharmas gather here, this itself abides in the three yogas, cause, condition, and result, are doing, acting, and non-doing. All the many dharmas, everything is, inner, outer, and inner-outer dharmas, Buddha and sentient beings are without distinction, it is explained in the first yoga. Also, as it is said in the Condensed Meaning: Samantabhadra's compassion for the benefit of beings, tames with the appearance of the three vehicles, from the definitive vehicle of true meaning, the meaning of the sutras and tantras that reveal the secret door, should be known to be of three kinds, namely, action as cause, action as condition, and the yoga of non-action as result, is said to be the root of all the many dharmas. Therefore, there are three yogas: action as cause, action as condition, and non-action as result. The first is: The nature of all dharmas, the three mandalas are completely and perfectly abiding without mixing, from which, all the many dharmas of inner and outer distinctions, are all bodhicitta, abiding as they are in their own nature, is the meaning of the tantra to be known. The second is: With the effort of the path and the action of having, it leads from samsara and causes one to enter the desired result of each, which are the three vehicles of Shravaka, Pratyekabuddha, and Bodhisattva. From this, with the action of having effort, it leads to enter, this vehicle is the action-condition. The third is: The nature of mind is pure from the beginning, therefore it is the inner and outer mantra vehicle that is free from the effort and practice of seeking results from elsewhere. From this, one does not seek results elsewhere, the path abides in the practice itself, this great skillful vehicle is non-action. Thus, these two yogas of condition and result are called the common general path, and among them, if one distinguishes the path of the special sutras, from this, the essence is skillful means and wisdom, therefore, the definite path of skillful means and the path of wisdom liberation are determined to be two, the first is: With the bliss of melting and immutable great bliss, whatever method is practiced with the co-emergent wisdom, relying on the practice of the four wheels, the method of gradually leading the co-emergent wisdom is the pith instructions of the upper gate, and the method of leading the co-emergent wisdom all at once by relying on the absorption of the two, space and secret.
