It is called Zhur Gsang Ba (Branch Secret), meaning 'great' because of its qualities and importance, which is the essence. That nature is the characteristic. By certainty, the definitive meaning is briefly shown. Thus, the four branches of the name explain the nature of the tantra or wisdom, greatness, characteristics, and the meaning of certainty. Here, to mention the general meaning briefly, as it is said in the chapter of the appearance of the Tathagata in the Avatamsaka Sutra: "The many fruits of the three thousand worlds cannot be accomplished by one cause. There is no such thing anywhere." Thus, using the example of accomplishing through many and various causes and conditions, it is explained that the complete enlightenment of the immeasurable qualities of the fruit Dharma body cannot be accomplished by a small number of causes and conditions and mere brevity. Thus, for those who are to be tamed, who are inclined towards vast methods, and who are of the Mahayana lineage, as it is said in the Mahayana Paramita, such as generosity, there are classifications of wealth and Dharma, and wisdom has differences such as conventional truth, ultimate truth, and the basis of emptiness. The differences in the practice of the two accumulations, and the three countless eons, seven, thirty-three, forty-one, forty-seven, etc., and the skillful means of learning, such as the six Paramitas, etc., are limitless. Although there is no place to attain enlightenment without exerting effort, for those who are to be tamed, who are inclined towards profound secrets, who possess courage and special motivation, and who are like wish-fulfilling jewels, especially for those who possess excellent faculties, the unsurpassed secret that is specifically taught, at this time, in the explanatory tantra of glorious Hevajra, there are the Vajra Tent Tantra and the Sambhuta Tantra or the Union Tantra. In the Union Bindu, it is said: "Mantras have many characteristics, therefore, for those with sharp faculties, what is the use of elaborating on the method of merely following the Sutra path? With the brief nature and learning method, the Mantra path itself attains Buddhahood." As it is said, for example, rather than many incomplete medicines, one dose of a complete formula can quickly cure the disease. Thus, the essential condensed path can be accomplished briefly. And it can be accomplished in a short time, in the short lifespan of the degenerate age. And it can be easily accomplished. And without relying on other paths, it can be accomplished by the path of self-reliance alone, possessing many such characteristics.

Moreover, the reason for this extraordinary characteristic is that, in the Sutras and the three classes of outer tantras and below, only the Tathāgatagarbha is mentioned, but the ultimate meaning is not explicitly revealed in words. There is a unique key to the path of wisdom in the context of the inner tantras, and it is solely through the power of this root tantra that it is established. For such ultimate secret wisdom, this tantra uses the term "great yoga of the pure Dharmakāya, the nature of the indivisibility of the two truths," which surpasses the two truths of the Sutra tradition. Although this tantra explains many stages of the path, the essence of what it teaches, the core of what is to be shown, is this. The key is the secret samaya. Because wisdom is one, all four aspects of the name speak of the greatness and characteristics of the tantra, but mainly it should be understood that it points to the wisdom of the meaning of the tantra alone. If explained separately, the meaning of secret is that, in the trigram, there are three such as nature, and the distinction of the secret of nature is that, due to ignorance of the essence of empty wisdom, the unborn essence, it is obscured by the ālaya, so it is primordially (ཡེ༵་ནས༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: आदितः, Sanskrit Romanization: āditaḥ, Chinese literal meaning: originally) secret (གས༵ང་བ༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुह्य, Sanskrit Romanization: guhya, Chinese literal meaning: secret); due to ignorance of the self-appearance of wisdom, it is obscured by other-appearance, so it is naturally (ར༵ང་བཞི༵ན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रकृति, Sanskrit Romanization: prakṛti, Chinese literal meaning: nature) secret (གས༵ང་བ༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुह्य, Sanskrit Romanization: guhya, Chinese literal meaning: secret); due to ignorance of the union of appearance and emptiness that obscures each individual aspect, it is essentially (ངོ༵་བོས༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: स्वभाव, Sanskrit Romanization: svabhāva, Chinese literal meaning: essence) secret (གས༵ང་བ༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुह्य, Sanskrit Romanization: guhya, Chinese literal meaning: secret); due to clinging to other-appearance, the collection of coarse delusions makes it distant from reality, so it is extremely (ཤིན༵་ཏུ༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अत्यन्त, Sanskrit Romanization: atyanta, Chinese literal meaning: extremely) secret (གས༵ང་བ༵་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुह्य, Sanskrit Romanization: guhya, Chinese literal meaning: secret). Although Vimalamitra added the secret of non-disclosure on top of that and divided it into four, the general meaning is that, as the tantra itself says in the thirteenth chapter: "From within both the knowing-continuum and the tantric text, the hidden meaning is revealed through confusion and disturbance. The hiding of the knowing-continuum is revealed by Vajradhara speaking the tantra, and the hiding of the disturbed text must be revealed by the guru's instructions." As the two masters Rong and Klong considered, it can be explained as being summarized into two: hiding and obscuration. The secret of hiding is that the continuum of the nature of reality is hidden by mistaken thoughts and is difficult to understand; and because the path that manifests it, which depends on it as the cause, and the stainless clear light results are not different in nature, it is profound and difficult to fathom.
