That which abides from, in the Lamrim it says: Skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas, the basis is complete, the mudra is clear without confusion, changing into anything, accomplishing anything. Thus. Those are the explanations about the nature of seeing that knows the cause. After that is explained, the second is the nature of entering the condition, which is the explanation of samadhi, which also has two: aspiration practice and definite completion. Aspiration practice is: even though stability in samadhi has not been attained, just practicing the general aspect is called aspiration practice. Therefore, the samadhi of each path and the five experiences, etc., until the end, the student can practice. The ritual activity of each session, from the preliminary refuge and bodhicitta to the final dedication, aspiration, auspicious words, showing it completely once, etc., taking it into practice with firm aspiration is aspiration practice. Definite completion is: samadhi and the experiences of wavering, attainment, habituation, stability, and completion, must be studied until they reach their respective ends. The experiences are explained by combining them with the three examples of the waterfall on a steep mountain of Nubchen, the slow flow of a river, and the depths of the ocean. Here, in the commentary on the Mudra Meditation of Master Vimalamitra, it says: Wavering, attainment, habituation, stability, completion experiences, are the ways in which meditation experiences arise. Therefore, the first experience of wavering is: the first abiding is like the waterfall on a steep mountain, not abiding even for a moment, and thoughts seem to have increased more than before. However, thoughts have not actually increased, but because one did not count thoughts before, one did not recognize them, and therefore did not waver. Now that one recognizes them, one has grasped the mind a little, and it is called the experience of wavering. The experience of attainment is: without looking at its faults or virtues, continuously meditating, like the waterfall in a ravine, thoughts still arise, but occasionally there is a brief state of non-thought, which is called the experience of attainment where thoughts are exhausted. The experience of habituation is: continuing to strive and meditate, like the behavior of an old person who cannot do much movement, or like an old dakini. If a dakini is old, although she seems to fly in the sky, she cannot fly very high. Similarly, strong conditions cause thoughts to waver a little, but they cannot waver much, which is called the experience of habituation where thoughts can be controlled. It is called the experience of stability.
