Thus, the Vajrasattva in the context of the tantras has been explained. Secondly, the statement that "the main deity of the mandala is Vajrasattva" refers to the main deity of the mandala appearing as the symbolic mudra of that very deity. The term "that very deity" refers to the great innate wisdom of mind-essence, which is inseparable from appearance and emptiness. Although it is the nature of emptiness without characteristics, it appears as the form of the main deity and retinue with characteristics, depending on the minds of sentient beings. As it is said in this very text: "In the center of the mandala, whose nature is without beginning or end, the four wisdoms radiate in the form of a wheel." Thus, when practitioners practice it on the path, beginners meditate in the manner of general meaning on the accumulation stage, the deity form created by aspiration; on the application stage, the deity form of wind and mind; on the seeing stage, the deity form of clear light; on the meditation stage, the deity form of learning union; and on the Buddha stage, the deity form of non-learning union. One must gradually learn on the five stages of the path. If we elaborate a little on these stages here, firstly, the deity form created by aspiration on the accumulation stage means that the individual first accumulates merit or the first stage of the path to complete the accumulation, so it is called the accumulation stage. The deity form also needs to be meditated on by creating the deity's body color, face, hands, retinue deity number, etc., according to one's own aspiration, so it is called the deity form created by aspiration. Then, by gradually practicing, one gains stability in both coarse and subtle samadhi, and it is said that this is just grasping the beginning of the mantra's accumulation stage. Among them, there are three types: small, medium, and large. The merits of the small accumulation stage summarized by the four mindfulnesses; the merits of the medium accumulation stage summarized by the four right abandonments; and after the merits of the generation stage are completed, the clear appearance of the completion stage arises in the mind, and thus the merits of the large accumulation stage summarized by the four legs of miraculous power are obtained. At that time, among the four inner wheels, the wind and mind of the navel emanation wheel become workable, which is the merit. Secondly, the deity form of wind and mind on the application stage means that after the merits of the accumulation stage are completed, it is the application stage that is practiced to connect with the seeing stage. The deity form of wind and mind means that by relying on the yoga of channels, winds, and bindus, the three doors of body, speech, and mind are practiced as the three vajras, thus practicing the deity form.
