Thus it is proclaimed. Secondly, regarding the general meaning, there are two: the general meaning of the Sutra and the general meaning of the generation stage. Firstly, there are two sub-divisions: dispelling regret for entering the Sutra path and dispelling regret for entering the Mantra path. The first is: if one regrets not having entered such a blissful and swift Mantra path, but instead entered the path of the Sutras and outer Tantras, etc., thinking it was not good, then even those can serve as stepping stones to the path of the Secret Essence of Mantra. As it says in this very text: "The grounds..." "Secret..." and as it says in the Sutra: "For those endowed with great means, afflictions transform into limbs of enlightenment." As it is said, if one is seized by a sharp faculty, skillful means, and special wisdom, then even a single great act of accumulating merit can lead to the swift path of bliss, such as gathering the accumulations of many kalpas, even in the Sutra path. The second, dispelling regret for entering the Mantra path, is: if one regrets that without bathing and cleansing, without attachment to purity regarding the five meats and five nectars, one behaves like dogs and pigs, and that the two, union and liberation, are harmful to others, saying that speaking of these as Dharma is in accordance with the tenets of non-Buddhists, then, if one does not abandon attachment to purity, one will not see the meaning of the equality of Dharma, so one must abandon attachment, etc., which is also affirmed in the Sutra. In the context of the Pratimoksha vows, initially, in order to tame the mind's attachment, one must rely on only the worst of places, clothes, and food. If attachment is purified, then the place can be like a king's palace, the clothes can be very valuable, and one can partake of food with a hundred flavors. Considering such a meaning, the accomplished Tilbhrungpa said: "Appearances do not bind, attachment binds. Cut attachment, Naropa." The two, union and liberation, if practiced arbitrarily, will cause immeasurable faults. As it says in the Sutra: "Hatred leads to falling into hell, desire leads to birth in the realm of pretas, ignorance mostly leads to going to animals." Furthermore, if one practices with the intention of benefiting others and with the means of skillful means, not only will faults not arise, but it will transform into an accumulation of merit. For example, killing a black man with a short spear and engaging with the daughter of a merchant, even Bodhisattvas on the ten grounds will emanate as hunters and prostitutes, etc., to benefit beings.

It is to accomplish meaningful things. As it says in the Lamrim: "The subduing power of a Bodhisattva allows even the display of hunters and prostitutes." Second, the common meaning of the generation stage is: visualizing the supporting palace and the supported deity, these two are common practices for both the generation and completion stages, therefore it is called the common meaning. Third, the secret meaning is: uniting with the Karma Mudra, hiding all the laws of desire that are not suitable to be revealed in the assembly, as well as self-blessing, the function and binding of channels, winds, and bindus, etc., which are the secrets of conventional truth. It is said that this is contained in the middle of the two common extremes, like a core, therefore it is called secret. Fourth, the ultimate meaning is: the meaning of ultimate luminosity that develops from these is the ultimate of the path, and the realization of the union of the two truths is the ultimate of the fruit. Therefore, these four methods must be explained separately to different types of disciples through the vajra words. Because the expressed meaning of this word is completely and thoroughly ultimate, it is called ultimate. The fifth ornament is: as it is said, "There are two kinds of differences in listening and speaking, namely, assembly speaking and speaking to disciples." Therefore, there are two kinds of content that should be spoken to the assembly and content that should be spoken to non-common faithful disciples. The first one, from the ultimate, speaks of the meaning to be guided, with intentional and literal meanings, and from the four methods, speaks of the meaning of words and common meanings, etc. And speaking to disciples needs to speak from the six boundaries of definite meaning and non-intentional meaning, and that which is literal meaning, etc. The non-common intentional meaning is contained in the secret and ultimate two. The sixth ornament is: as it says in the Kalapa, "There are five kinds of vessel individuals, namely, the metaphors of Utpala, Padma, white, red, Tsanda and precious jewels." Therefore, there are five kinds of individuals similar to the metaphors of Utpala, etc. Although Utpala has the merits of holding essence, etc., if it is used as an ornament for the ears, etc., it is easy to age quickly. Similarly, although this person can maintain the wisdom heard once from the teacher, he is very forgetful due to distractions and disturbances, etc. The white lotus is like the former.
