G. Among the three divisions, the first is from the Later Treatise: "Whatever explains the object to be expressed, that is said to be the expression." Therefore, that which explains the object to be expressed is the sound of expression, which is the nature of appearing and audible sound, the sound of expression or the continuum, or the continuum of letters appearing as a book, whatever is known as the continuum of letters, that is it. It also possesses a collection of three natures, just as calling the wood supporting the roof a pillar, whatever dharma with whatever sound, thus examining and proclaiming is the name. The collection of many names is the collection of names, like the treatise of synonyms. That name itself, without being generally included, first only shows the nature, secondly, like actions, distinguishing the differences of various cases, and showing the differences in the meaning of that particular dharma, is the word. For example, "On the horse-carriage, the Dharma wheel and parasol are supported on the left and right by male and female deer." The letters that clarify those names and words are the letters. Thus, names arise from the collection of letters, just as the four consonants "ཀའ་བ འ་" and the two vowels "ཨ་" are combined to form "ཀ་བ་". Words arise from the collection of names, such as "ཀ་བ་", "གདུང་མ་", "རིན་པོ་ཆེ་", and "ཕྲ་ཚོམ་", etc., when many names are connected by cases, it becomes like "ཀ་བས་བཏེགས་པའི་གདུང་མ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ཕྲ་ཚོམས་གྱིས་མཛེས་པ་". When these are collected, in the order of verses, prose, and chapters, they continue to the book, and thus the continuum of letters of the collection of scriptures, or the continuum of meaning of the object to be expressed, can represent the continuum of sound of the expression. As it says, "Letters rely on sound, the collection of names, rely on words to be well expressed." Therefore, the characteristics of verse, prose, and mixed are: verses also have from one to seven lines. In the General Sutra: "Brahmin, how much in the water?" The answer to the question: "Lord of men, knee-deep." is an example of a verse with one line. And "What is the cause of the lotus in the sea trembling?" etc., is an example of two lines. How are the kinds of flowers produced from water and land?

Various kinds. Who is worthy of offering? Like that, three lines, etc. Especially in the "Mirror of Poetry" and the "Treasure of Prosody," the four-line verse is also. Thus, four lines constitute one śloka (Sanskrit, śloka, Romanized Sanskrit, śloka, literal Chinese meaning: verse), and similarly, there are also mentions of five, six, and seven lines. Continuously using prose is called prose, and the alternating appearance of poetry and prose is called a mixed form. Among these, in order to protect the meaning and name from being confused, chapters are established, derived from the word "paṭala," meaning organized. Or, "paṭa" means clothing, so it has the nature of protection. "La" means holding, so dividing the text into sections, protecting the meaning and name from being confused, has an upward-looking nature. One "bam po" is equivalent to three hundred ślokas, so it is considered downward-looking. If we analyze these, they arise from the manifestation of the teacher's wisdom. The Sambhogakaya Buddha, through the symbolic language of intention, through the great gate of proclamation that does not speak in words, enables the real retinue to attain the fruit, thereby making the teacher and the retinue's intention inseparable, all of which naturally appears in their minds. Similarly, in order to open the wisdom of future disciples, in the minds of the retinue, the meaning of the tantra appears in the universal form of sound. The tantra consisting of name, word, and letter, appears as the sound tantra. In accordance with this, due to the desire to express sound, relying on the head and other places, and the combination of tongue and lips, etc., speaking it out in the mouth is called the sound tantra. Recording this basis of expression in external written form on books is the tantra transformed into symbols. If we distinguish the tantra from the perspective of the expresser, there are only these. The definition is: Why is it called the sound tantra? Because the meaning of what is expressed itself appears as the sound that expresses it, and is known through sound, so the collection of sound and verses, etc., is continuous, or because the five beginnings, etc., are explained in terms of cause, condition, and result, it is called tantra. Another explanation is that because the object of expression obtains the name of tantra, the expresser is also called tantra. If classified, there are the root tantra, which is the basis of explanation, and the explanatory tantra, which is the explainer. The root tantra also has a collection of words, namely chapters.
