In general, there are various kinds of Lamas. Like the Khenpo who ordains one into the Dharma, the Khenpo who introduces one to the Dharma; the Samaya Acharya who bestows vows and empowers; the Lama who makes amends for transgressions, who serves as the object of confession of faults; the Lama who liberates the lineage of knowledge, like the Dharma teacher who expounds the Dharma; the Lama who reveals profound instructions, like the Upadesha Lung teacher. The examples of how to honor these six are also in four stages. As it says in the same text: "The king who has power over the land, the uncle, father, mother, and eyes, should be regarded as superior to the heart." One should honor them in this order. In particular, empowerment, explaining the Tantra, and receiving oral instructions are the three Lamas who possess three kinds of kindness, so they should be honored even more. As it says in the Peaceful Tantra of the Compendium of Bliss: "Explaining the Tantra and empowerment, that itself is taught." Furthermore, there is honoring more than the Buddha, honoring equally, and honoring as the fourth Jewel. The first is, as it says in the Compendium of Intentions: "Better than offering to the Buddhas of the kalpas, to apply a drop of sesame oil to a single hair of the Lama is an exceptionally superior accumulation of merit." To regard the Lama as equal to the Buddha, as it says in the Net of Illusion of Vairocana: "The Lama is equal to all Buddhas." To regard the Lama as the fourth Jewel, as it says in the Buddha's Equal Union Tantra: "Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, and the Lama are also the fourth." Secondly, the Samaya of Vajra Speech is: with great ability and diligence, like a flowing river, or practicing through the six times of day and night; the intermediate practitioner practices through six or four times a month; even the lowest must continuously practice the Tsog offering on the tenth or twenty-fifth, or seasonal offerings. As it says in the Peaceful Tantra of the Compendium of Bliss: "By diligently holding the mantra and mudra of one's own Yidam deity, not cutting it off continuously in the three times, is the Samaya of Vajra Speech." In the Wrathful Lightning Tantra, it says: "The best is like a flowing river, or three days and three nights, in six times, reciting naturally without distraction. The intermediate does not interrupt between six or four times a month. The lowest action yogi, if he does not diligently practice every month or half-month, the seed of Bodhi will be destroyed. Tsog and Torma are also the same, the lowest should not exceed a month."

It is. Loving kindness towards Dharma brothers and sisters is: Because all sentient beings are inherently my siblings, they are common Dharma siblings; all who have entered the Buddha's teachings are Dharma siblings of the same teaching; close Dharma siblings are those gathered by the same lama, siblings of the same father; by extension, siblings of the same mother in the same mandala; those who have received the Dharma together are close Dharma siblings; those who have received empowerment together are mixed Dharma siblings. As it says in the "Fearsome Vajra Lightning": "Even towards Vajra siblings, have compassion. Mixed and unmixed, all are siblings. Even the mind with imputation, should be strongly abandoned." This is how it is. The third is the Vajra Mind Samaya: Not speaking the ten secrets to others, and not abandoning the three Bodhicitta of the supreme realm. As it says in the "Joyful Gathering Peaceful Tantra": "The intention of the three Bodhicittas, is the Vajra Mind Samaya." This is how it is. These are the ten secrets. As it says in the "Clear Lamp": "Breaking samaya, deviating from samaya, not seeing the mandala without samaya, towards all mixed and unmixed." First, the former indicates the place to keep secret. What should be kept secret? As the former says: "Common and intermediate secrets, four each, appropriate and entrusted, ten in total." Therefore, there are four common secrets, four intermediate secrets, and four each of appropriate and entrusted secrets. The first is, as the former says: "Profound view, outrageous conduct, appropriate and entrusted, four each. The deity's dharani and signs of accomplishment are secret." Therefore, the view is the indivisibility of truth, the conduct is outrageous. If you show the name of your Yidam deity, its mantra, and the signs of accomplishment, etc., to those who are not suitable, you will break the samaya. Even if you show it casually to those who are suitable, you will lose accomplishment. Therefore, you should keep it secret at all times. As it says in the "Fearsome Vajra Lightning": "To those who are not vessels, keep it secret at all times and places. Even to those who are vessels, do not show it without empowerment." This is how it is. There are four intermediate secrets, as it says in the "Clear Lamp": "The place, time, companions, and substances of practice, keep them secret in the middle and practice." Therefore, these should be kept secret for as long as you practice. What is appropriate to keep secret is: the profound view and conduct of the supreme Mahayana, and the misconduct of Dharma siblings, etc., which should not be seen or heard. What is entrusted to keep secret is: what the teacher and Dharma siblings have instructed to keep secret.
