That which is beyond the realm of a mind without fabrication is not a false, accidental phenomenon, but rather the very nature or suchness of the mind, which is inherently present. That, in accordance with common Dharma terms, is also called the Tathāgatagarbha or the wisdom of the ground. The unchanging wisdom that pervades saṃsāra and nirvāṇa is the nature or essence of the Buddhas, and therefore it is the essence of the Buddhas or the Tathāgatagarbha. That itself, from the very beginning, has never been tainted by defilements in its own essence, but as long as the two obscurations are not removed, it will not become a Buddha. Therefore, it is called the naturally abiding lineage or the thusness with defilements, which is the name of the element. Although it is related to defilements, the defilements are a false, accidental aspect, so the essence is not tainted, which is naturally pure, meaning enlightenment. From the very beginning, all the qualities of the Buddhas are spontaneously present on the ground, but until they are awakened by white Dharma, they cannot manifest their power, which is quality. For all sentient beings, it abides as an impartial, all-pervading protector and essence, so the activity of pacifying temporary and ultimate suffering and generating happiness is spontaneously accomplished, but without the thought of agent and action, which is the meaning of activity. Those are beyond the realm of the conceptual mind, so they are called the inconceivable ground. As it is said in the Uttaratantra, “The Buddha-dhātu and the Buddha-bodhi, And the Buddha-dharma and the Buddha-karma, Are not to be thought of even by pure beings. This is the realm of the guides.” Thus it is said. In terms of the uncommon, Sekgapa Dorje said in the Thuk Thik, “The nature of the Sugata is the object to be tamed, On the essence of the three appearances, The distinction of the continuum is established.” Therefore, that dharmatā is impartial and all-pervading, so there is no distinction to be made in itself, but depending on the individual who possesses the continuum, three names appear. As it is said in the Uttaratantra, “Impure, impure, pure, and extremely pure, In order, sentient beings, Bodhisattvas, And thus gone ones are said.” Thus it is said. That is also generally known as lineage in the sūtras, tantras, and śāstras, and there are many different views according to the tenets. The Śrāvakayāna Vaibhāṣika is, existence and existence

The contentment and lack of desire for possessions such as clothing and food, which arise in accordance with the mind, are the lineage of the noble ones. The Sutra School believes that the seed of the mind has the potential to give rise to uncontaminated wisdom. The Mind-Only School believes that from beginningless time, the mindstream possesses the potential to generate uncontaminated Dharma, which is the natural attainment of Dharma-nature. All of these assert that the Tathagatagarbha is the principle of compounded phenomena. The Madhyamaka School, while generally agreeing with the Suchness that possesses defilements, has many different ways of identifying it. Here, according to the common view of the Mahayana, it is divided into the nature of the lineage, how it pervades all, and its rationality. Firstly, as stated in the Uttaratantra: "Here, there is nothing to be removed, nor is there anything to be added. Seeing the Suchness as it is, one is liberated." Therefore, the essence of that realm (Dharmadhatu) is naturally luminous, without any defilements to be abandoned. Since the qualities are naturally and spontaneously accomplished, there is no need to acquire qualities that were not previously present. Therefore, the essence of the realm is emptiness, devoid of all distinctions of faulty things; and it is not emptiness, because it possesses qualities that are inherently present. The Uttaratantra states: "It is characterized by distinctions, the realm is empty due to temporary adventitious stains. It is characterized by non-distinction, it is not empty of the supreme Dharma." Regarding how it pervades all, the Garland Sutra states: "The Tathagatagarbha pervades all beings." The Uttaratantra states: "The body of the complete Buddha, for the benefit and without distinction, because there is lineage, all sentient beings constantly possess the Tathagatagarbha." The Samadhiraja Sutra states: "Pure, clear, extremely luminous, unmoving, unconditioned, and uncompounded, the Tathagatagarbha is the Dharma-nature, the nature that has always been present." The content appearing in the Avatamsaka Sutra is summarized in the commentary on the Uttaratantra: "Therefore, the qualities of the Buddha, in general, even in the realm of ordinary beings, there exists the non-discriminating Dharma-nature, without any distinction of before or after, this existence is inconceivable. Because there is no sentient being in whom all the wisdom of the Tathagata has not fully entered, such a sentient being does not exist in the realm of sentient beings. However, due to conceptual clinging, the wisdom of the Tathagata exists.
