The difference in object, the difference in dedication, the difference in offering substances, and so on, are four types. The first is: the objects of offering that are beyond the world, such as lamas and the Three Jewels; and the objects of offering that are worldly, such as Brahma and Indra. The second is: that which becomes the cause of nirvana is the part of liberation, which is transcendent; that which becomes the cause of happiness and fruit in this and future lives is the part of merit, which is worldly offering. The third is: dedicating the offering itself for the sake of attaining nirvana is transcendent; dedicating it for the sake of happiness and fruit in this and future lives is worldly. The fourth is: listening, contemplating, and meditating, etc., are transcendent; material objects, etc., are worldly. However, in general, although the difference between transcendent and non-transcendent is distinguished in this way, if one distinguishes in detail, it is not definite. For example, for an object such as a lama or a Buddha, performing actions that please them with special objects, listening, contemplating, and meditating, if one dedicates it for the sake of happiness and prosperity in this and future lives, or merely for the status of gods and humans, or for the sake of liberation from the fear of the lower realms, then it is a part of merit, and is a worldly offering. For a lowly object, such as a dog wandering in the street, giving a small amount of lowly food, if one dedicates it for the sake of attaining Buddhahood, with the wisdom that does not conceptualize the three spheres, then it is a part of liberation, and is a transcendent offering. Specifically, the outer enjoyments, the inner samaya substances nectar, and the secret profound union and liberation are three types. Among these, the outer enjoyments are flowers, incense, etc. These are called outer offerings, and are not only present in both Sutra and Tantra, but are also used by everyone from kings to beggars in the world, hence they are famous in this way. The inner samaya substance nectar offering is nectar, rakta, etc. This is not only a teaching of Sutra, but is also absent in outer Tantra, and is a unique characteristic of inner Anuttarayoga Tantra. The secret profound union and liberation are also indicated by this. If one considers the context of the peaceful and wrathful ritual texts, the peaceful deities are offered with Lhagting, and the wrathful deities are offered with fourteen types of respectful prostration offerings made with Detsab Rakta three times. In summary, they are: respectful prostrations and mudra dances, the Kunsang conduct, and the four alternating foot baths.

Etc. Nectar Torma secret blessings, the remainder combined with liberation and union. Desires, enjoyment, music, song, wisdom. Thus and so forth, are the various categories of offerings. Tenth, regarding mantras and mudras, there are also three points. The essence is: In the Heart Drop it says: "Letters gather as four accomplishments, the powerful one who is mature, not separate from the four perfections, whatever appears is the essence." Therefore, the letters of skillful means and wisdom gather in Ali Kali, and through the blessings of the four accomplishments, become capable and powerful, this is the essence of mantra. The four accomplishments are: the accomplishment of the nature of reality, the accomplishment of the nature of phenomena, the accomplishment of blessings, and the accomplishment of power. Awareness, the deity appearing as the body of the four complete mudras, not separate from this is the essence of mudra. The definition is: From the sound of "Mantra," the meaning of quickly saving the mind and consciousness is mantra. Among them, the meaning of saving through the gate of bliss is, as it is said: "For the five objects of desire, whatever is enjoyed with pleasure is accomplished." Quickly is: Without needing to accumulate merit for countless three kalpas, etc., through the power of skillful means, one can complete the stages and paths in one lifetime. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "For those who possess great skillful means, afflictions transform into limbs of enlightenment." And, in this very text it says: "If one is certain in the Unsurpassed Vehicle, even if one enjoys all five desires, actions do not accumulate but transform into merit, the vows of discipline are perfectly complete." Thus it is said. The definition of mudra is: From the sound of "Mudra," the meaning of sealing and representing, because it is difficult to surpass after being sealed with the four mudras, therefore the meaning of symbol is mudra. Among them, mantras are divided into three types: secret mantras, knowledge mantras, and retention mantras. The first is: The nature of skillful means and wisdom, the gate of which appears as the syllables of secret mantras, through the action of reciting in the mouth, becomes the antidote to wrong conceptions. The second is: The nature of wisdom and intelligence, through the action of knowing the meaning of things, becomes the antidote to ignorance. The third is: The nature of mindfulness and wisdom, through the action of holding without forgetting the meaning of words, becomes the antidote to forgetfulness. The way these three are symbolized as deities is also, secret mantras, etc., deities.
