The power of the lineage from entering (the womb) to being born is cultivated, thereby perfecting the fruit. In between, by meditating on this path, with the pull of great compassion, the foundation for arising as the deity of union is laid, and it is said to become the maturing cause of the higher path. The yoga with elaborate mudras, which is the path for training the intermediate stage of the arising stage, is: In the Stages of the Path, it says, "Wheel, cluster, number, face, hand." Therefore, there are four: mandala elaboration, cluster elaboration, number elaboration, and face and hand elaboration. The first is: The mandala elaboration of the peaceful deities, the five families and the retinue of minor families, above the fifty male and female deities, plus sixteen male and female bodhisattvas, eight male and female doorkeepers, two activity male and female deities, and six Thubpas, totaling eighty-two. The medium one is the five families of male and female deities, male and female bodhisattvas, male and female doorkeepers, activity deities, and six Thubpas, totaling forty-two. The concise one is the ten male and female deities of the five families, plus eight male and female doorkeepers, totaling eighteen. The mandala elaboration of the wrathful deities, the five families of blood-drinking male and female deities and the retinue of minor families, above the fifty, plus twenty-eight place goddesses and gatekeepers, and ten wrathful male and female pairs, totaling one hundred and eighteen. The medium one is the five families of blood-drinking male and female deities, plus the places, etc., counted as before, totaling seventy-eight. The concise one is those minus the twenty wrathful male and female pairs of the ten wrathful deities, totaling fifty-eight. The second is the cluster elaboration: For the peaceful deities, there are single, three, and five clusters, and three from the first. The first is: Akshobhya male and female deities, the four pairs of retinue of the Vajra family's minor families, plus eight male and female doorkeepers, possessing the nature of eighteen deities, is the single cluster. In the center is Akshobhya, and in the east and west are Vairochana and Amitabha, each surrounded by their own minor family retinue. Plus the eight male and female pairs excluding the upper and lower wrathful deities from the ten wrathful deities, totaling forty-six deities is the three clusters. The five families of male and female deities and the retinue of minor families, plus the twenty wrathful male and female pairs of the ten wrathful deities, totaling seventy deities is the five clusters. For the wrathful deities, although there is no mention of cluster practice in the root tantras, the Stages of the Path says, "Then meditate on one wheel, etc., three and five clusters." Therefore, like the peaceful deities, there are single, three, and five clusters, the three all similarly establishing the four deities including the place goddesses and gatekeepers, etc., cluster.

When there is one mandala, in the center are the Vajra Blood-Drinker father and mother, surrounded by the Wrathful Ones, father and mother, of the small lineage of the Vajra family. Around the periphery are the ten Wrathful Ones, father and mother, twenty in total, making seventy-eight, which is one mandala. When there are three mandalas, on top of those, in the east and west, are added the Buddha and Padma Blood-Drinker father and mother, along with their small lineages, making eighty-eight deities, which is the three mandalas. When there are five mandalas, on top of that, in the south and north, are added Ratna and Karma Blood-Drinkers with their small lineages, making one hundred and eighteen. Third, expanding the numbers is learning the differentiation of appearances. Among them, there are two, peaceful and wrathful. Even within the peaceful, there is learning the thousand mandalas, the twenty-four thousand, and the spontaneously accomplished. The first is: "Possessing forty-two limbs, those very limbs are completely expanded, the forty-two become three times." Therefore, contemplate that all forty limb deities are endowed with the two root deities, father and mother. For example, in the case of Akshobhya, visualize yourself as Akshobhya father and mother, the father's five limbs are the agent and the four Buddha families. The right side of the four eyes, ears, nose, and tongue are the inner minds, and the left side are the outer minds. The four soles of the feet and palms of the hands are the four gatekeepers. In those places of the mother, contemplate the previous mothers. In addition, in the father's six places, such as the crown of the head, contemplate the six Thubpas (Buddhas). Thus, the forty limb deities in total are called the method deities from the aspect of being coarse and external. On top of those, the wisdom deities are the forty wisdom heroes, each of the forty method deities has three deities of body, speech, and mind, making one hundred and twenty. Adding the method deities and the blessing deities makes one hundred and sixty, and each of those also has five empowerment deities, making eight hundred. By contemplating all of them as one thousand, it is called learning the thousand mandalas. Second, learning the twenty-one thousand is: "Thus, the supreme lord who possesses, the victorious one, the supreme of victors, likewise, the light of twelve and six shines and blazes." Therefore, just as one contemplates Akshobhya, contemplate the four Buddha families, the supreme of victors, Samantabhadra, and the eight Bodhisattvas, the four gatekeepers, seventeen father-mother pairs. The six Thubpas, contemplate each of them in this way as well.
