Even when manifesting illness, it is the nature of being separate from the realm of experience. It is also the nature of being liberated from one and many. It is also the nature of being without the coming together and separation of the three times, and so on, of the seven natures. Among these, the first is indicated by the term "Tathāgata." That is, in general, from the word "tathāgata," "tathā" means "thusness," and "gata" means "gone," or "arrived," or "known," or "spoken." Just as the previous victors went by way of the conduct of enlightenment, so too, they went and arrived by way of the same path; and they knew and spoke of suchness as it is; and just as the appearance of desirable qualities appears, so too, they went by way of the conduct of skillful means; and from the sentient beings being born in four ways, they went in accordance with the thoughts of those born from the womb, and so on. However, here, because the meaning of the suchness of dharmatā is matured by being free from the clinging that obscures it, and because its essence is manifested, it is said to be gone. As the Vajra says: "Also gone into suchness, it is said to be liberated from various clingings." And as the Later Tantra says: "Since he has gone into suchness, he is manifestly called Tathāgata." Thus it is said. The second, the nature of being spontaneously accomplished without seeking qualities, is indicated by the term "Sammasambuddha." Because there is nothing to be abandoned in self-arisen wisdom, it is not mistaken; because it is unchanging and not deceiving, it is "samyak" (correct); and because the qualities of the fruition body and wisdom are completely self-manifest in the expanse of that dharmatā, it is said to be without anything to be abandoned or attained. The third, the nature of wisdom being free from ends and center, is indicated by the term "Buddha." Its meaning is that the wisdom free from obscurations is the nature of expanding without ends and center. From the word "buddha," it has both the meaning of awakening like waking up from sleep, and the meaning of expanding like a lotus flower opening. Therefore, the Seventy Verses on Refuge says: "Because of awakening from the sleep of ignorance, and also because of expanding the mind towards the knowable." That is why. Here, although there is no contradiction and no separation from the essence, by the power of manifesting the meaning as it is, it is the ultimate quality of having nothing to be abandoned or attained. As the Limb says: "Ignorance itself is clear wisdom, afflictions, suffering, supreme enlightenment." That is why. Fourth, although possessing mastery over the fruition

The nature of not being able to indicate its own nature is indicated by the term "Bhagavan." Since even the slightest part of obscuration does not exist, the four maras are conquered. Although possessing the fruit of great qualities, it is said so because it is the nature of not being able to indicate "this is its own nature." As stated in the Vajra Sequence: "The four maras, etc., are conquered by the power of wisdom. Qualities such as the five bodies are beyond expression. One's own nature cannot be indicated as 'this'." The manner of conquering the four maras is: without abandoning the five afflictions themselves, they are completely purified into the nature of the five wisdoms, thus conquering the affliction mara. By purifying these, the five aggregates also become enlightened into the nature of the five families, thus conquering the aggregate mara. At that time, being liberated from the bonds of pure deities and impure conceptualizations, one is not obstructed by the interference of the gods of desire, thus conquering the son of the gods mara. The nature of mind is liberated from birth and death, thus also conquering the lord of death mara. As stated in the "Extensive": "The afflictions themselves are completely purified. The five aggregates themselves manifestly become enlightened. One's own nature is the mandala of the deities. It abides in the eternal place without birth or death." Fifth, although manifesting equality, it is the nature of being separate from the sphere of activity, indicated by the term "Great Enjoyment." Although manifesting the meaning of the equality of samsara and nirvana, it is called the nature of being separate from the sphere of activity because one enjoys by being free from attachment to grasping all phenomena of samsara and nirvana as objects to be used and users. Sixth, the nature of being liberated from one and many is indicated by the phrase "the vajra nature of the body, speech, and mind of all the Tathagatas of the ten directions and four times." From the perspective of being the support of the great qualities of all the Tathagatas contained in the ten directions and four times, they are the five bodies; from the perspective of conveying the Dharma, they are the five speeches; from the perspective of immovability, they are the five minds; from the perspective of arising needs and desires, they are the five qualities; from the perspective of accomplishing the benefit of others, they are the five activities. Manifesting the twenty-five result dharmas, one is therefore free from the nature of one. These twenty-five result dharmas are included in self-arisen wisdom, and the five families are also included in the sixth, therefore, because one is free from the nature of many, it is an inconceivable state. Seventh, the nature of not having the gathering and scattering of the three times is: without remainder, without body.
