The discussion is: The retinue requested that you, with four secrets, bless those who have resolved to act for the benefit of others. Because the Buddha's compassion arose, he spoke the tantra to those who were directly tamed by this tantra. In order to teach the common disciples through transmission, he manifested inconceivable incarnations, such as manifesting the six Thubpas, and displayed various great compassionate plays. Then, all the Tathagatas, together with their consorts and retinue, specifically uttered these words. It is explained from "manifesting various plays for the sake of the teachings" to "manifesting various plays." Third, regarding the meaning of the Fruit, the Perfectly Wise Tantra, there are two parts: From the perspective of the main object to be expressed, a general explanation of the classification of the three tantras; from the perspective of the main expression, a detailed explanation of the conditions for the path and the specific content of the tantra. The first part is: In the Later Tantra, it says: "Tantra means continuous; from method and cause comes the result." Therefore, in general, that which has a continuous meaning is called tantra. If classified, there is the base or cause tantra that needs to be realized, the method or path tantra through which one realizes and progresses, and the fruit tantra where one ultimately arrives. The first is: "No bondage, no liberation, the Buddha's Dharma is spontaneously perfect from the beginning." And, in the extensive explanation: "All self-awareness is Bodhicitta, that is said to be the measure of scripture." Therefore, the base is the reality of no bondage and no liberation, self-aware Bodhicitta, inseparable from truth, free from the realm of experience, which has existed from the beginning. This is called the cause tantra. Explaining its meaning is: The cause tantra, due to the function of realization and non-realization, becomes the basis of all phenomena of samsara and nirvana, therefore it is called the base. That reality is separated from all bondage and liberation, because the binding delusion is without self-nature, it is temporary, therefore there is no bondage. If there is no bondage, there will be no liberation, this is the nature of reality, therefore it is called no bondage and no liberation. The nature of mind is the Tathagatagarbha, not newly produced, but perfectly accomplished from the beginning, it is the permanent and unconditioned nature, therefore it is called reality. Self-aware Bodhicitta refers to samsara and nirvana.

All phenomena are gathered into the mind, and it is so named because it is gathered into the essence of self-aware bodhicitta. The meaning of "indivisible truth" is this. From the aspect of the expanse being free from all elaboration, it is nature. From the aspect of self-luminosity being free from obscurations, it is wisdom. From this, the five results—body, speech, mind, qualities, and activity—can arise. From the aspect of the spontaneously accomplished essence as the cause, it is the ultimate result. Thus, the seven treasures are spontaneously accomplished as the essence and cause, which is the superior ultimate truth. The manifestation of its power, the container and contents of the world, and the vast mandala of body and wisdom appear, which is the superior relative truth. These two are indivisible in essence and united, therefore they are called indivisible truth. The way in which the two truths are united is that they are united without abandoning one another, like gold and the yellowness of gold, or like a lamp and the light of a lamp, because the appearance and reversion of the ultimate spontaneously arise as relative. This is beyond all objects of thought and expression, so it is named "free from the realm of activity." This is what pervades all phenomena encompassed by permanence and change, samsara and nirvana, and has been present from the very beginning. It is the basis for all terms such as the essence of the sugata-garbha, the naturally abiding lineage, the alaya-jnana, and the tathagatagarbha with defilements. The meaning of these is explained as follows: Because it is the source of all phenomena, it is the expanse or realm. Although it is related to defilements, its essence is Buddha, so it is the sugata-garbha. Although the mind itself, from the aspect of emptiness, fully possesses the dharmakaya, and from the aspect of appearance, fully possesses the qualities of the rupakaya, it cannot perform its own function because the defilements are not purified, so it is the naturally abiding lineage. Its essence is self-arisen wisdom, and it performs the function of realization and non-realization, so it becomes the basis of all samsara and nirvana, so it is the alaya-jnana. The dharmata, the tathata, from the way it appears, seems to be bound by a shell of defilements, so it is called the tathagatagarbha with defilements. And so on, among them, Kriya (藏文:ཀྲི་ཡ,梵文天城体:क्रिया,梵文罗马拟音:kriyā,action) is the self's suchness; Upaya (藏文:ཨུ་པ་ཡ,梵文天城体:उपाय,梵文罗马拟音:upāya,means) is bodhicitta; Yoga (藏文:ཡོ་ག,梵文天城体:योग,梵文罗马拟音:yoga, yoga) is the beginningless and endless bodhicitta, or bodhicitta Samantabhadra; Mahayoga (藏文:མ་ཧཱ་ཡོ་ག,梵文天城体:महायोग,梵文罗马拟音:mahāyoga, great yoga) is the indivisible bodhicitta free from the realm of activity, or the truth.
