This is the explanation of the differences in [accomplishments]. Firstly, if one mainly practices deities such as Mahadeva to achieve the purposes of this world, it is a common accomplishment. If one mainly practices deities such as Vajrasattva to achieve transcendent purposes, it is a supreme accomplishment. Furthermore, entering the door of certain methods of practice, even if one ultimately completes the practice, if one does not actually attain nirvana, it is a common accomplishment. Moreover, entering the door of certain methods of practice, through ultimately completing the practice, one actually attains nirvana, it is a supreme accomplishment. The second part is the explanation of common and supreme accomplishments. Firstly, in general, in all tantras, the eight great activities and eight great siddhis of common accomplishments are mentioned. Among them, the eight activities are stated in the Hevajra Tantra: 'Subjugation, manifestation of magical powers, destruction of enemy forces, expulsion, killing, attraction, pacification, and increase will be truly accomplished.' The eight siddhis are stated in the Guhya Tantra: 'Because that is not difficult, eye medicine and swift feet, sword and subterranean travel, pills and aerial travel, invisibility and absorption of essence, because he pleases Vajradhara, he quickly obtains [them].' In particular, in the system of the Secret Illusion, many common accomplishments are extensively mentioned in the explanatory tantras. For example, in the root text, it says: 'Raising the dead, longevity, and the accomplishment of medicine, the great god and the four great kings, subduing the venomous nagas, the wives of kings and ministers, there are two methods of subjugation, territory, jackals, swift feet, expulsion, invisibility, accomplishment of form, goddesses and naginis, the accomplishment of kings, ministers, military leaders, and family ministers, for the sake of this life, they are worldly.' Although it is said so, in this root tantra, nineteen common accomplishments are mentioned. What are the nineteen? Six accomplishments from the source of qualities, five accomplishments of the five elements, and eight accomplishments of minor activities. The first is: 'Becoming nectar and arising, pacifying four hundred and four diseases, producing enjoyment and purifying evil destinies, anything can be transformed into something else.' Therefore, for the basis of transformation such as food and poison, write letters, and through the method of gathering and dispersing, transform poison into nectar, and any other desired thing can be accomplished as desired, pacifying diseases, producing enjoyment, and purifying the obscurations of evil destinies.
