Therefore, it is understood. The first is the reason of the four bodies, because it understands the meaning without relying on examination. The second is the reason of the emanation body, because it is necessary to understand the meaning by relying on examination. As it is said in the Lamrim: "Although there are many, they are summarized into two: four follow without examination, one follows with examination." The difference between these two is: for those with sharp faculties, showing directly what is not hidden without relying on examination is without examination; for those with dull faculties, showing the meaning indirectly by relying on examination is the reason for examination. The first is, for example, like showing gold directly to someone who wants to see gold. As it is said in the Lamrim: "Therefore, to see gold as gold, without observing actions for oneself, without seeking contemplation and grasping, seeing that by merely saying it." If the reason without examination, does the opposite of that reason have measurability or not? It has, otherwise it would not be called a reason. Then, does the absence of examination deteriorate? There is no fault, because the method of measurement is understood quickly, so here it is considered without examination. The latter, which requires examination, has reasons of agreement and disagreement between words and meanings. The first also has two types: meaning and classification. The first is, like the common vehicle, establishing the meaning to be proven and the reason without contradiction, which is the reason of agreement between words and meanings. The second has the scriptural authority of valid cognition and the reason of homophones with different meanings. The first also has two types: meaning and establishment. The first is establishing both the words and meanings as they are known in this tantra. The second has four types: the four realizations, the three purities, the four equalities, and the reason of the great sovereign. The first is, as it is said here: "The same cause and the form of letters, blessing and direct perception, with four complete realizations, all are completely enlightened great kings." Among the four realizations, the same cause is: Samsara and Nirvana, both are characterized by having the same cause, because the cause of both is the same in mind, and their nature of being unborn is also the same, therefore, from realization and non-realization, they appear as Samsara and Nirvana.

For example, the false imputation of mistaking a prince for a commoner, and the valid cognition of ascertaining him as a prince, both are the same in essence as a prince. As it is said in the Ocean Sutra: "In the realm of Dharmata, the principle is one, all self-appearing phenomena, all are realized as the mind of Bodhi." And as it is said in this very text: "All Tathagatas and all dharmas are characterized by being one in the nature of primordial Buddhahood." The principle of letters is that the radiance of mind itself, which is unborn, spontaneously appears as the body, speech, and mind of deities, the unceasing play. It is realized by being represented by indicative letters, like pointing to the moon with a finger. Furthermore, as it is said in the Ocean Sutra: "Whatever appears as body, speech, and mind, all are realized as the adornment of speech. All are letters of speech, sealed with skillful means." Wherever meaning is realized by being represented by letters, it is realized through the principle of letters, as it is said in this text: "Relying on collections of letters, sounds, and names, well represented by words, revealing the hidden meaning from within." The blessing is that the two, appearance and emptiness, are in fact inseparable. Through the power of truly realizing these two, the blessing of primordial Buddhahood arises naturally in the inseparability of truth. For example, just as white cloth has the ability to be dyed red. Furthermore, as it is said in the Ocean Sutra: "That very inseparable blessing, that very blessing of that, self-appearing in the manner of non-duality, the wondrous blessing is inconceivable." And also in the Fierce Lightning Sutra: "From the blessing of the unborn realm, knowing all dharmas to be appearances, such is its very nature." The manifest one is that the inseparability of truth is beyond the realm of the mind, because with a pure lineage, the state of being free from the object of inseparability is manifestly realized. For example, just as with pure eyes, the manifest seeing of a white conch shell is the very nature of the conch's color. Furthermore, as it is said in the Ocean Sutra: "These self-arisen, self-appearing dharmas, in the unborn state of non-dual self-awareness, are clearly manifest without doubt, said to be the supreme of all realizations." And also in the Fierce Lightning Sutra: "Not relying on others, not contradicting, decided by manifest wisdom."
