In the context of phrases like "Supreme and excellent samaya," generally, there are three types of vows: Pratimoksha vows, Bodhisattva vows, and Vidyadhara vows. As stated in the "Fierce Lightning": "Bhikkhus, Bodhisattvas, and Yogis, Great Yogis." Also, in the empowerment text of the Mind Drop treasure revelation of Je Lama: "Pratimoksha and Bodhicitta, The assembly of inner vows of Vidyadharas." These three, due to their conflicting forms yet complete essence, and because of transformation, are gathered and entirely pure. How do the forms conflict? There are four distinctions: the duration of the commitment, what is followed, what is primarily practiced, and the purpose. First, the Pratimoksha vow is maintained for as long as life lasts, the Bodhisattva vow until the attainment of Bodhicitta, and the Mantra vow until Samsara is empty, this is the difference in commitment. Second, following the Arhats, the Bodhisattvas who have entered the great Bhumis, and the Tathagatas, this is the difference in what is followed. Third, the practice of abandoning the seven actions of body and speech is Pratimoksha; primarily abandoning the three actions of mind and training in compassion is the Bodhisattva vow; not straying from the meaning of equality with the certainty of realization and habituation is the Mantra vow. Fourth, aiming at one's own benefit, the benefit of others, and the great benefit of others, apply them in sequence. Second, regarding the essence, there are two aspects: completeness and transformation. First, the Pratimoksha vow is abstaining from actions that harm others, the Bodhisattva vow is engaging in actions that benefit others on top of that, and the Mantra vow is, on top of both, practicing the deeds of the Buddhas, being skilled in the means of effortlessly accomplishing the benefit of others within the great equality, therefore everything is complete. For this reason, if one can keep the Mantra vows without transgression, one can incidentally keep the lower Vinaya vows, and there is no need to guard them separately. Just as when a three-bushel container is full, there is no worry that it cannot hold two bushels, it is because the qualities are gathered in an upwardly increasing manner. As stated in the "Clear Illumination": "If one abides in the Mahayana samaya, All the Vinaya vows of the lower levels, Can be kept without guarding, Bhikkhus, Bodhisattvas, and Yogis, Great Yogis are like that."

The complete purification through the transformation of the ground is such that, although afflictions bind one to samsara through the actions of the three doors of body, speech, and mind when used unrestrainedly, if one engages in vows that abandon non-virtuous actions, holding wisdom and compassion as one's priority, it becomes a cause for higher realms and liberation. If one engages in activities for the benefit of others, being fully governed by skillful means and great wisdom, it becomes a cause for liberation into unsurpassed enlightenment. Furthermore, if one engages being governed by even greater skillful means and wisdom, then the great perfect enlightenment will be spontaneously accomplished without effort. For example, just as smelting copper ore and refining the copper transforms it into gold, the actions of the three doors, even on the same basis, transform to higher and higher states through the magnitude of skillful means. Therefore, the two aspects of completely abandoning harm to others in the Pratimoksha vows and benefiting others in the Bodhisattva vows transform in nature into the substance of the mantra vows through the manner of increasing substance. Abandoning from the root any aspect of ordinary appearance and attachment that is not governed by the means of Great Evenness, it transforms into the extraordinary means of Great Evenness, just like light dispelling darkness. In this way, all the lower Vinaya vows are included and completely purified within the samaya of Great Evenness. Here, some might think: It is not reasonable for the two lower sets of vows to be included and perfected in the higher vows, because the two aspects of completely abandoning harm to others in the Pratimoksha vows and benefiting others in the Bodhisattva vows seem to directly contradict the samaya of not abandoning in the mantra vows. To show that they are not contradictory but exist in an inclusive manner, it is explained as follows: For the Pratimoksha vows, it is said that if the four defeats occur, the root is destroyed. However, here, if one is governed by the confidence of realizing the true nature, one is not defiled no matter how one acts, so the essence is upwardly enhancing and re-accumulating, therefore it is a virtue that is upwardly enhancing. This is the general explanation. Specifically, regarding killing, it is said, "Neither existence nor non-existence, the Middle Way is not observed," and so on. Both self and others are clear as mind itself, and in ultimate truth, it is free from the three extremes of existence, non-existence, and the Middle Way. In relative truth, although it appears, one realizes that it is empty of inherent existence. Therefore, even if it appears like killing, since there is no killer or killed, and there is no concept of killing, one is not defiled by faults. For the ten bhumis
