Etc., due to the different beings to be tamed, the number of mudras is not fixed. But because of the liking for brevity, it is taught that merely the individual mudras of the five Tathagatas, or even just the common samaya mudra of the vajra clasped palms crossed, is also sufficient. As it is said: Furthermore, there are various mudras, or just the Tathagata himself, or just the vajra clasped palms. This is regarding the peaceful deities. Second, for the wrathful deities, there are mainly the mudras of the five families and the retinue. First, in the extensive Sochikpa, the mudra of the central Heruka is... etc., as it is said in the Eye Commentary, the Tantra Vajra extensively explained this. Even so, it should be valued and practiced. There are two aspects to this: first, explaining the source and necessity, and second, offering the individual mudras and making supplications. First, to symbolize liberation from the root of Heruka and the Secret Essence Tantras, etc. Thus it is said. Second, the mudra of Vajra Heruka is... etc. Second, in the extensive ritual, the mudras of places and regions are said to be in accordance with other tantras. The mudras of the Matrikas are in the Transcendent

Rabtenna. Achieve great and wonderful miracles. All thoughts in the mind will be accomplished. Thus it is said. The ten conducive things for the path have been explained. Secondly, regarding the nature of the path, there are two: the path of liberation and the path of means. The first has divisions, characteristics, and ascertainment. First, if the path of liberation is divided, there are two: gradual and sudden. As it says in this very text, "Gradually or suddenly." And in the Lamrim, "The long is also gradual and sudden." Thus it is said. Secondly, there are three: negation, establishment, and abandonment. First, Lhaje Menyakpa said, "First realizing the view, then shifting to samadhi and meditating is gradual. Meditating without shifting is sudden." If that is the case, this suddenness of meditating on a deity with characteristics will not be sudden. Because one does not meditate on the deity during the view, and one meditates on the deity during samadhi, so there is a shift. Secondly, at the time of ascertaining the view, realize it as non-dual and unique. At the time of practicing meditation, become accustomed to non-dual and unique. At the time when the result is perfected, make it non-dual and unique to achieve perfection. This is sudden. Gradually realize non-duality, gradually become accustomed, gradually make it achieve perfection. This is gradual. This was said by Lama Deshek Chenpo and Je Drol Yung, and it is good. Thirdly, if that is the case, in the sudden, do the five minds arise gradually or not? If according to the first, it will not be sudden. If according to the second, the sudden path will not be the nature of the path, because the five minds do not arise. If they arise, there is no later fault. The way they arise depends on gradual transcendence, and they arise very quickly, so there is no first fault either. It is like piercing five overlapping peony petals with a needle. Therefore, the example of the gradual is like piercing five overlapping wooden boards with an awl, as the previous lamas have said. Thirdly, there are two. First, regarding the ascertainment of the gradual, it is explained by binding the path with three characteristics, and examining it as ultimate and transcendent, and considering the differences of whether these have defilements or are without defilements. First, is it with defilements or without defilements? Both view and samadhi can be bound, but in this case, as
