From... there are five kinds of beings who expound. Although it is said that there are five kinds, in the context of the magical illusion of the mind, Akshobhya is in front. The second expounding being is the five Buddha families, father and mother. Among them, because they possess four similarities, the teachings of the five families are not contradictory. As it is said. First, the five fathers of the five families are: the Bhagavan Tathagata, the King of Complete Knowledge, and so on. There are three aspects to this: explaining the concepts, how they are purified as deities, and the distinctions of their families. The first is: In the later tantras, it is said: Form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are called the five aggregates. As it is said. Among them, consciousness is the eight collections of consciousnesses that have the characteristic of distinguishing objects, namely: the alaya consciousness, afflicted mind, mind, and the five sense consciousnesses. Form is the fifteen dharmas that have the characteristic of being form, namely: the form of cause, the four great elements; and the form of effect, in the Treasury of Knowledge it says: Form is the five senses and the five objects, and non-revealing form. Therefore, it is eleven. Feeling is of the nature of experiencing, the three of happiness, suffering, and neither. Perception is of the nature of grasping the characteristics of objects, the three of vast, small, and immeasurable. Formation is the mind of the nature of manifesting. This is also the fifty-one mental factors, namely: the five omnipresent, the five object-determining, the eleven virtuous, the six root afflictions, the twenty secondary afflictions, and the four variable ones. Therefore, the first is: feeling, perception, mind, touch, and attention, these are the five omnipresent. The second is: desire, conviction, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom, these are the five object-determining births. The third is: faith and shame, knowing shame, non-attachment, non-hatred, non-ignorance, diligence, non-carelessness, great joy, equanimity, non-harming, these are the eleven virtuous dharmas. The fourth is: desire, anger, pride, and ignorance, doubt, and wrong view, these are the six root afflictions. The fifth is: wrath, resentment, concealment, vexation, jealousy, stinginess, deceit, flattery, harm, shamelessness, no shame, the two harm, and impatience, disbelief, laziness, and carelessness, forgetfulness, non-awareness, distraction, these are the twenty secondary afflictions. The sixth is: sleep, regret, investigation, analysis, these are the four variable dharmas.

Thus it is said. Thus, out of the fifty-one mental factors, the remaining forty-nine after subtracting feeling and perception are formations. Why is it that feeling and perception are separately established as aggregates among the five omnipresent ones? The Treasury of Knowledge says: 'Because they are the root of disputes, the cause of samsara, and the reason for sequential continuity, feeling and perception are separately established as aggregates among mental factors.' Thus it is said. Therefore, the five aggregates have eighty branches, as it says in the Jewel Box Sutra: 'These, each with their own eighty branches, are known as the five complete Buddhas.' Thus it is said. Here, some say: In other treatises, the aggregate of form is mentioned first in the order of the aggregates, but why is consciousness mentioned first here? The answer is: This shows that this (treatise) surpasses the common Hearer Vehicle of outsiders and is superior. In the commentary 'Sunlight,' it says: 'Outsiders consider the gross objects of grasping to be primary, but here, the consciousness that is the root of grasping is considered primary. Therefore, there is no contradiction, and the Great Vehicle is considered the teaching of the Buddha.' Thus it is said. Second, regarding the method of union with the deity, there are two aspects: refutation and establishment. First, the Jonang master said: 'The consciousness in this context is not the eight consciousnesses, but the five sense consciousnesses. If it is considered to be the eight consciousnesses, then because the unmoving one's continuum has the alaya consciousness, it would follow that he is not an arhat, and because he has afflicted mind, it would follow that he is not a person who has abandoned the two obscurations.' Although this is said, it is merely conforming to common treatises, and it is extremely unreasonable here. The Sage of Hell (Buddha) Dharmakaya, your continuum does not have hatred, because you are a person who has completely abandoned hatred, because you are a noble Buddha. Because all discriminations are treated equally, it is unreasonable. It also contradicts the scriptures, as it says: 'All remaining dharmas are not other than the Buddha himself.' And in the Extensive Explanation, it says: 'The king of consciousness is the glorious Vajrasattva, the completely pure alaya consciousness. When it is not completely pure, it is the root of all the dharmas of samsara, and when it is completely pure, it is the root of all the dharmas of nirvana.' Thus it is said. Therefore, the Great Vehicle.
