Passed away. Both do not exist, if one fully knows samsara, it is called nirvana. As quoted in the self-commentary of "Lamp for Contemplation." Also from Hevajra: "This itself is called samsara, this itself is nirvana. Apart from abandoning samsara, nirvana cannot be realized." So it is said. If it were not so, practicing the path would become meaningless, like wiping ashes, which will not turn white. Thus, in the extensive explanation, it is also said: "If there is no purification and suffering, and no inherent essence from the beginning, then there is no abandoning of afflictions and no accomplishment of purification." So it is said. Secondly, the object of investigation is the dharma of nirvana, which Vimalakirti, in the third chapter, summarizes into six ground objects. However, those are the characteristics of nirvana itself. Here, the object of investigation is the mind that clings to and imputes to form and wisdom. Therefore, its own characteristics will be widely known at the time of the result, so it is not elaborated here. These are the general explanations of the ground. Secondly, the reason for becoming the cause and continuum is that, from the mere appearance of samsara and nirvana, there is no bondage or liberation, hence it is great purity. The basis of great spontaneous accomplishment. The non-affirming negation of emptiness, the inseparability of self-nature and truth, the great Dharmakaya that has always resided, is the proximate cause of the fruit continuum, hence it is the cause. From sentient beings to Buddhas, like a fine gold mine, the nature remains unchanged and continuous, hence it is the continuum. Thus, in the root practice of the treasure revelation "Union of All Sugatas" by Je Tsongkhapa, composed by the master: "The awareness that is pure from the beginning, inherently abides as the Dharmakaya, like a precious jewel residing under the ground of a poor man's house, confused in samsara due to not knowing it, if it is pointed out and recognized, that realization of the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, is known as Buddha." So it is said. In the self-commentary of "Lamp for Contemplation": "Although the self-nature suchness is non-dual, due to not possessing the means, it is merely unseen, like a poor man's treasure and a giant's jewel." So it is said. The alaya of the ground meaning or the dharmata of self-nature, in the Sutra of the Wheel of Non-Returning and its commentary, has nine similes, and a great banner of three thousand great thousand worlds.

As it is said through examples such as "the realm is the essence of the Sugata," it is also considered so in this tantra. As it says in the "Ema Sugata Essence": "Ema Sugata Essence." And: "This nature of the ten directions and four times, is the essence of the Tathagata." And in the "Extensive Sutra": "It is not the basis of all conceptualizations, the absence of self-nature is the basis of meaning, that is called the Dharmadhatu, it is the wisdom of Suchness." Furthermore, in the Great Sutra it says: "That which is naturally unborn from the beginning, the unconditioned, all-illuminating light." Moreover, regarding the meaning of the Alaya of the ground meaning, in the "Dense Array of Jewels" it says: "The various grounds are the Alaya, the essence of the Sugata is also that, by the name of Alaya, the Sugata has revealed that essence." That essence pervades all beings like oil pervading sesame seeds. As it says in the "Vajrasattva Heart Mirror Tantra": "In all sentient beings of the world realm, the essence of the Tathagata exists like oil pervading sesame seeds." And in the Sutra it says: "The Sugata essence pervades all beings." Therefore, it is good to consider the meaning of essence as the unchanging aspect of inner knowing. As Lord Maitreya said: "Seeing this realm of knowing like honey." The teacher Shantideva also said: "The Sugata essence is self-knowing." The teacher Madhusadhu said: "Inner, means the wheel of Dharmata gathering its mouth inwards." Quoted in the "Eye Lamp," and the previous "Primordially pure knowing," etc., also demonstrate this. Then, according to the direct teaching of the intermediate wheel, the great master Nagarjuna and others, for the aggregates etc., with the reasoning of one and different, the object of discriminating consciousness that analyzes, denying the characteristic of emptiness, saying it is Suchness and Dharmadhatu etc., is there an obstacle? Answer: That is a branch of the means to enter the unchanging inner knowing of the causal continuum, or like a ladder to ascend there, the great translator Gö Lotsawa said. In the Dharma category of the Great Nirvana Sutra of the Noble One, it also says, formerly when explaining the Prajnaparamita Sutra, I said that all phenomena are emptiness.
