Cyclic existence also has a beginning and an end. If it is said that cyclic existence has no beginning or end, as clarified by the common doctrinal scriptures, then it is the same as the sky having no edge or center, because scriptures and reasoning have clarified this. If it is said that the sky has no edge or center, then cyclic existence also has no beginning or end. If it is said like that, then taking the path into practice becomes meaningless, just as blocking the sky in a hole cannot block it, this is also the same. Fifth, the way of being mistaken is: As it says here, "Outer and inner dependent arising revolve." Therefore, among the outer and inner, first, the twelve outer dependent arisings revolve in a manner of many or few. That is, in the 'Important' it says, "Outer is six related to cause, likewise, six related to condition." Therefore, the six related to cause are: from seed to sprout, and then gradually trunk, branch, leaf, flower, and fruit, like the former producing the latter, this is the way of revolving in many. If few is applied to something like a round stone, then it is said to be like all six being itself. Second, the six related to condition are: the five elements and the change of time, six in total. Thus, the six dharmas related to cause, relying on the six conditions and so on, perform various activities, thereby generating the outer appearing world of objects and containers and so on. As it says in the Lankavatara Sutra, "Great Wisdom, just as pottery arises from a lump of clay, cloth arises from thread, lacquerware arises from tree sap, sprouts arise from seeds, and the efforts of spindles and so on, and cream arises from milk. Great Wisdom, this is the outer dependent arising, the former arising from the latter." So it says. Second, the inner dependent arising has: definition, classification, and summary. The first is: something that does not arise if it does not exist, and is established by relying on it. As it says in the 'Important', "Because this exists, that arises, because this is born, that grows, the former cause gives rise to the latter effect." So it says. Second, there are differences in substance and meaning of classification, and how it revolves. The first is: the twelve links such as ignorance. The second is: In the Dzogchen Tantra 'Self-Arisen Wisdom', it says, "That also arises from ignorance, from ignorance arises formation, from formation arises consciousness, from consciousness arises name."

As it is said, from name arises the nature of form, from form arise the six sense bases, from the six sense bases arises contact, from contact arises feeling, from feeling arises craving, from craving arises grasping, from grasping arises becoming, from becoming arises birth, from birth arises aging, from aging arises sickness, from sickness arises death. Thus it is said. Ignorance is being deluded about the meaning of suchness and the results of actions. By taking that as the cause, accumulating virtuous and non-virtuous actions, or manifestly performing actions, is action. Those actions are accumulated on the consciousness that possesses continuity, and that which carries over to the next life is consciousness. When it enters the place of birth, together with the four aggregates of feeling etc., and the form that is transformed from the four great elements, that is, the nature of the five aggregates, name and form are formed. It gradually grows, and the six internal sense bases such as the eye appear. From that arises contact, which is the aggregation of object, faculty, and consciousness, and from that arises feeling, which experiences pleasure and pain, and from that arises craving, which desires to obtain pleasure and desires to abandon suffering, and from that arises grasping, which diligently performs the activities of taking and abandoning with the three doors, and by nourishing that, the karmic imprints become capable of taking rebirth, which is becoming. From that arises the birth of the next life, and if there is birth, there is aging, which is the change of age, and sickness, which is the change of elements, and death, which is the change of life, therefore the wheel of the twelve links of dependent origination revolves without interruption, so it is called samsara. Those are also completed in the three times. Ignorance, action, and consciousness, because they are the cause of projecting birth, belong to the previous life. The seven from name and form to becoming are completed in the intermediate life, the first four are the nature of maturation, and the latter three arise from the causes of those maturations. Birth and aging and death are completed in the future life, the end of this life is becoming, and from that arises birth, and from that arises aging and death. As Nagarjuna said, from the three arise two, from the two arise seven, and from the seven also arise three, this is the wheel of becoming, and itself is again and again.
