Therefore, it follows that one falls into the extreme of samsara. Because there is a basis for delusion. If you accept that, then, From that, the self-nature is naturally inseparable. As it is clear from (the text). The third fault is: it follows that the three, hearing, thinking, and meditating, cannot eliminate delusion, because the basis of delusion is inherently present. If you accept that, then, in the Root Tantra it says: Through the union of hearing, thinking, and meditating, self-arisen, natural, spontaneously accomplished. As it is clear from (the text). The fourth fault is: it follows that the ground has grasping and the grasped, because there is inherently a basis for delusion. If you accept that, then, in the Three Successive (Texts) it says: The characteristics are all free from extremes. And, in the Extensive (Text) it says: The wisdom free from grasping and the grasped. As it is clear. Furthermore, some say: Even without a basis for delusion, there is delusion. This is not reasonable. Because in the Heart Drop it says: The denier is towards the spontaneously accomplished, disagreeing with that, separately grasping. For that, that is impossible. Saying that the ground is inherently without, saying that it is in the face of clinging mind. Whatever denial is a nihilistic view, that and that are different, impossible, all arising, the first does not arise. Because it is harmed by the above four faults. What are they? The first is: it follows that coemergent ignorance is not established, because there is no basis for delusion. If you accept that, then, in the Divining Arrow it says: Not having arisen with definite knowledge is coemergent ignorance. So it says. The second fault is: it follows that the ground falls into the extreme of nirvana, because there is no basis for delusion. If you accept that, then, nirvana also does not exist. Thus it harms. The third fault is: it follows that samsara has a beginning, because delusion arises from having no basis for delusion. If you accept that, then, in the General Sutra it says: Samsara has no beginning and no end. So it says. The fourth fault is: it follows that even for a Buddha with a pure continuum, delusion could arise, because even if delusion is not on the ground, it arises suddenly. If you accept that, then, in the Heart Drop it says: Even the Thus-Gone One, is merely liberated from various clingings. So it says. Furthermore, some say: Delusion arises from the basis of delusion being existent, nonexistent, and undifferentiated. This is also not reasonable, because the self-nature of the ground is inherently pure, while delusion is a temporary stain. Second, regarding the two broad and narrow statements of our own system, the first is: delusion arises from all three, the basis of delusion being existent, nonexistent, and undifferentiated, it is not that delusion arises only from any one of them. Therefore, delusion also arises from having a basis for delusion, like a snake.
