The fourth, the Great Primordial Purity or Immaculate Primordial Purity, and the Great Spontaneous Fulfillment or Immaculate Spontaneous Fulfillment, these two are named Primordial Purity because the ground and result do not possess ignorance, and Spontaneous Fulfillment because the ground and result have not abandoned ignorance. Actually, the ground and result both have not abandoned ignorance and do not possess ignorance. For example, oil has not abandoned the substance of sesame, but it does not possess sesame husks. Therefore, the appearance of samsara and nirvana separately is merely a conceptual illusion. If measured accurately from the perspective of the nature of reality, there is originally no bondage or liberation. Like a prince wandering among the common people, samsara and nirvana are blended into equality. As the Root Tantra says: "Because there is no bondage and no liberation, it is the Buddha Dharma spontaneously perfected from the beginning." And as the Subsequent Tantra says: "All elaborations are completely pacified, the self-nature is said to be liberation, because there is no bondage, it is liberation." And as the All-Creating King Tantra says: "It is not teaching a result achieved by searching, it is spontaneously accomplished from the beginning without searching." The second is, as the Stages of the Path says: "It also establishes three states." That is, the conventional truth, the ultimate truth, and the indivisibility of truth. The first has essence, meaning, division, and establishment. The first also has the general essence and the specific essence of conventional truth. The first is merely appearing without ceasing in the face of terminology. The second is the appearance, like a reflection of the moon in water, empty of true substance and without distinction. To establish these, there are three: scripture, reasoning, and pith instructions. The scripture is, as stated in the Extensive Text: "Conventional is equal to illusion, compounded phenomena are various, all appear as illusions, momentary appearances also perform actions, appear as the measure of all concepts, all these are images, without doer or deed or substance, all abide like the moon in water, all appear but have no self-nature." It also says: "Conventional is like the moon in water, therefore it can change and accomplish anything." The pith instruction is, as stated in the Stages of the Path: "Like the moon in water, illusion, and emanation." Reasoning is to establish that it is merely appearance without cessation, and to establish that the appearance empty of truth is without distinction. The first is: the phenomenon, by nature, is without cessation, because there is a true and accurate appearance of wisdom in its essence, which is established by four reasons. What are the four?

If appearance is not established, then illusion cannot arise; if there is no appearance, there will also be the fault of not being able to understand the ultimate truth; because no one can deny this mere appearance; because self-awareness is self-appearing without ceasing its activity at all times. Thus, there are four reasons. The first is: this present illusion, as the subject to be proven, cannot arise, because its basic nature has no appearance. Wherever appearance is obstructed, illusion is necessarily obstructed, just as when the snake of a rope is obstructed, the illusory knowledge of grasping a snake on a variegated rope is also obstructed. The second is: appearance, as the subject to be proven, if you do not exist, there is no means to understand the ultimate emptiness, because emptiness would become one-sided. There is no fault, because if it is said that something other than appearance understands, then is it illusion or not illusion? If it is illusion, then the ultimate emptiness is not true, because the knower is illusion, and the object of knowledge is also illusion. Just as the eye consciousness mistakenly sees the nature of a conch shell as yellow. If it is not illusion, then the knower who knows the object of knowledge, the ultimate truth, is called appearance, just as a pillar is called capable of supporting a beam. The third is: appearance, as the subject to be proven, cannot be obstructed even by the hand of the omniscient one, because it is self-appearing, because the suffering of the six realms has not been obstructed. If it is said that it is obstructed but like not obstructed, then the Victorious One would not possess skillful means and compassion. The fourth is: self-awareness, as the subject to be proven, is self-appearing without ceasing its activity at all times, otherwise, it would be no different from inanimate matter. This cannot be accepted, because the self-light of emptiness does not cease, but appears as the phenomena of samsara and nirvana. For example, the ocean itself appears as waves, and the sun appears as a mandala of light. Second, establishing that appearance and ultimate emptiness are inseparable: If one establishes a commonly appearing thing, then this water, which appears to us humans and is commonly perceived, as the subject to be proven, is an illusion of intelligence, because the nature of appearance is uncertain, because pretas see it as pus and blood. As Kawa Paltseg's Stages of View says: "Hell beings see their own minds, appearing as flames and sufferings; pretas with sinful minds see impure places, various pus and blood and foul things; animals see deep abysses, or places upside down; humans see pleasant places; gods and humans see differently."
