I will explain. However, if the twelve divisions within the four categories are distinct in nature, it contradicts the statement in Thuk Thik: "One has the nature of three." Also, if there is no distinction with opposites and it is the same, then it contradicts being separate. If you say that, there is no fault because the essence is the same but the opposites are different. The Lamrim says: "Thus, wisdom abides in its own place, the nature of all paths and fruits." Therefore, what is said to be the same in essence as self-awareness, Bodhicitta? Because its symbolic aspect appears different in the three aspects of ground, path, and fruit. Second, the collection is: all knowable dharmas are collected into the three of ground, path, and fruit, because the four categories previously divided are only different in name and do not establish different essences. For example, it is like giving many different names to the same person. Third, to determine the meaning of the collection, the three of ground, path, and fruit are generally determined, which is a brief explanation. Determining them separately is a detailed explanation. First, there are four: classification, essence, meaning of words, and definition. The first also has the basis of classification, the dharma of classification, the need for classification, and the consideration of the valid means of determination. The first is: the basis from which to distinguish is indispensable, because the categories without a basis of classification are not consistent. Most scholars agree that only knowable things are suitable as the basis of classification. As it is said in the Commentary on the Eye: "The knowable things of the ground, path, and fruit, for the sake of the meaning of knowable words with the same meaning, are collected into the meaning of the three lineages." If it is not reasonable, it is because it contradicts the three: scripture, reasoning, and pith instructions. It contradicts the scripture, because the Gongdu says: "Neither example, nor measure, nor reason, can be realized by subsequent inferential wisdom, like a blind man measuring the height of the sky." It contradicts the pith instructions, because the Lamrim says: "In order to dispel attachment to names, in the second expression, it is beyond thought and expression." Reasoning also harms, if only knowable things are taken as the basis of classification, then the basis of the nature of abiding reality also becomes knowable. Because it is the pervader of the basis of classification. It cannot be accepted, because it is beyond the realm of knowable things. As the Vajra Cutter says: "The Dharma realm is not knowable, therefore it cannot be fully known." And the Galpo says:

If someone says, "Because (the sutra) says, 'That is not the realm of wisdom.'" In response, some say, "Although reality is not knowable, establishing and refuting are objects of knowledge, so there is no fault." But (someone) says, "Because the object of establishment alone is that reality, it is unreasonable." Wise ones! There is no fault in the basis of the essence of reality becoming knowable. Because the meaning of the 'Compendium of Intentions' is that (the sutra) refers to what cannot be realized by the intellect of conceptual thought, not to what cannot be realized by the universal three-aspect reasoning. Moreover, the oral instructions also speak of the non-difference from reality, not of the way of establishing it. However, if someone asks, can one definitely divide knowledge into real and unreal? Only that much, according to the view of the secret illusionists, are all paths included in view and meditation? If included, then it can also be determined here. If someone asks, does reality fall into the extremes of real and unreal? Then the path should also be able to be represented by either view or meditation. If again it is said not included, then it cannot be determined here either. Then, the valid cognition that determines knowledge becomes cut off, and knowledge will become a third aggregate? If someone says that this contradicts the statement that all paths are included in view and meditation, then a third main part of the path will also exist, so one cannot raise one's head. Therefore, even if all paths are included in view and meditation, just as the path merely exists universally, even if all knowledge can be definitely divided into real and unreal, the basis of reality also exists universally, this should be able to be taken as an object of establishment." So it is said. Even so, I (think) that although the nature of reality transcends the knower and the known, it is not contradictory to make it measurable in mere convention. For example, although space transcends the object of mind, it is like a person can measure it. In the 'Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son,' it says, "Knowledge is also completely contained in the two truths of conventional truth and ultimate truth." And in the 'Kalapa Sutra,' it says, "Among knowledge, because it is supreme, it is a definitive word." Although ultimate truth is often said to be knowledge, this does not contradict the previous scriptures, the key lies in this. In short, dividing the basis, path, and result into three is like the causes and effects in a dream appearing separately, it is temporarily a confused appearance.
