May it be beautiful with the splendor of dispelling all darkness! This is excerpted from the "General Meaning of the Essence Root Tantra: Secret Lord's Oral Instructions." This first part of the earth visualization, the common preliminary guide, was written by the mantra practitioner Dharma Shri in the Fire Rabbit year of the twelfth sixty-year cycle (Tibetan calendar, 1747 AD). The scribe is Zemtön Orgyen Paljor, who has great respect for the virtuous spiritual friends and the Vajrayana teachings. Later, in the Iron Horse year, when I was thirty-seven years old, in order to complete the second earth visualization, the general meaning of the tantra, on one sheet of paper, I made some additions and deletions to make it more perfect. Om, may there be well-being, may there be perfection!). All phenomena of samsara and nirvana are self-aware Bodhicitta, inseparable from appearance and emptiness, the supreme Dharmakaya. Primordially pure, the Tathagatagarbha, I prostrate to the Dharma of the basic continuum, the nature of mind. Relying on the boundless expanse of reasoning, guided by the signs of logic, the path of liberation, with blazing rays. Based on the appearance of realization, illuminating the basis as it is, I admire the lineage of the path that can clarify, the essence of secrecy. With the sharp sword of wisdom, breaking through the shell of ignorance, making manifest the reality. The ultimate result continuum is called the Blissful Gone One. Here, I pay homage to the kind guru. The object to be purified, the means of purification, the result of purification, the three times of stainlessness, namely the agent and object of realization, connected as one with self-nature, and for the sake of easily understanding the meaning of continuity, I explain its meaning. Although I do not possess extensive knowledge of scriptures and treatises, nor do I have the intellectual capacity to discern the Dharma, I have gained profound essential points through the kindness of the guru, and there should be no fault in expressing this slightly. Thus, first, by training the mind with the common preliminary guide, and then for the fortunate ones who have received empowerment and are bound by vows, the profound tantra should be explained. Therefore, one should proceed to explain the meaning of the branch tantra. This has three parts: to generate trust in the source, to tell the history of how it arose in the past; to enter with reverence for the pursuit of Dharma, to tell the greatness of the tantra; and to tell the actual meaning of the tantra that possesses that greatness. The first part includes: how the Teacher spoke, and how it was transmitted. The first part also includes: the view of the Sun Lion and the view of the Arrogant Vajra.

Firstly, it is accepted that when the Sambhogakaya teaches the Secret Mantra Vajrayana in Akanishta, at the same time, the Supreme Nirmanakaya teaches it in the human realm at Vajrasana before showing the manner of attaining Buddhahood. As stated in the "Extensive Commentary": While practicing austerities on the banks of the Nairanjana River, the Buddhas of the four families urged and requested him. He left the body of imputation there, and the body of wisdom went to Akanishta. He remained for a moment in the state of accomplishing all purposes, the activity of a Bodhisattva being complete. From his own body, through the magical power of light, he pervaded all of space. All the Tathagatas also gathered into one, and the Buddhas of the four directional families blessed him with the five Abhisambodhis, thereby manifestly and completely attaining enlightenment. If it were not so, wisdom without a teacher would be unreasonable. The name was also given as the Great Vajradhatu. Then, while entering, he descended by the power of wisdom and went to the top of Mount Sumeru, to a palace built of stacked vajras and jewels. There, he taught the great Yogatantras, including the assembly of the One Reality. Then, at the request of Vajrapani, he went to the seashore and again taught the Yogatantras in the great palace of the Vajradhatu. Then, he went to the land of Oddiyana (present-day Swat Valley, Pakistan) and Zahor, and taught all the secret tantras to King Indrabhuti and others. Then, he returned to the place where he had practiced austerities, and wisdom re-entered the body of imputation. Rising from there, he performed alms-seeking, pressed down on the Vajrasana and became enlightened, subdued the Maras, turned the Wheel of Dharma, displayed miracles, and finally concluded his deeds with Nirvana. Objection: Well, if it was taught in the human realm like this, why does the original tantra say, "The realm of Akanishta is without limit or center"? Shouldn't it be said that it was taught in the human realm? Answer: It is like this: Firstly, it is necessary to keep the source secret, and secondly, at what time, at what moment, in Akanishta, in the palace of the king of the gods, the Sambhogakaya teaches the Secret Mantra Vajrayana.
