If practiced, it will be accomplished, but practicing without these dharmas is meaningless, and the practitioner himself will be lost. Thus, the advantages and disadvantages are explained together. The second part has three points: understanding the nature of the cause is view, entering the nature of the condition is samadhi, and what manifests is the nature of the result. The first part has two points: the instruction on the method of realization, and the explanation of the nature of the view to be realized. The first point is: Whoever "Without object," etc., one verse: Whoever does not understand the meaning of mind-essence being without object anywhere, that person does not understand the profound state of the pure, non-dual expanse of dharma. For that reason, all internal and external tenets that cling to things as real, and those that grasp at non-existence, must realize that the manner of destruction in the non-dual state of mind-essence, where everything is unestablished and unceasing anywhere. Know that the self-nature of all dharmas is the meaning of being without object, beyond thought and expression, thus it is advised. The second point is: "Without basis, without root," etc., seven lines: The original nature of mind-essence, without a basis to rely on and a root to generate, cannot be designated as "this." It is neither male, nor female, nor hermaphrodite. Other than that, it is also not without characteristics, not the six classes of beings, not the four castes such as royalty, not the lineage of various castes, or anything else. It is not colors such as white and red, not shapes such as square and round, not real and unreal dharmas such as the place of reliance and the object of reliance. In short, because it will not become anything, it is not any extreme. This is the nature of dharma, the pure, self-arisen wisdom of the realm of suchness. It is the path of the mudra of method that does not deviate from manifesting this basis, and it is also the basis or cause of all that appears as samsara and nirvana through the action of realization and non-realization. Why? Because there are no dharmas other than the nature of mind. Moreover, since this fifth chapter explains the transmitted precepts in three characteristics, these two sections, the method of realization and the explanation of the nature of what is to be realized, are the characteristics of understanding the cause. If combined with the oral instruction on the stages of the path, then,

Like the self-abiding place of innate wisdom, the four yogas of seeing and entering into it, without interruption, cultivate to maturity, the path of spontaneous accomplishment of the empowering mudra, the order of manifestation will be explained. Thus, the three characteristics are also divided into nine chapters. First, the chapter on the ground of the wisdom self-abiding place to be realized. Second, the chapter on seeing the self-abiding place. From the third to the sixth chapter, with four chapters, the great emptiness, compassionate illusion, and the one mudra are widely spread, which are the four yogas of the accumulation path. Seventh, the practice of the joining path. Eighth, the four vidyadharas, the fruits of the path. Ninth, the ultimate fruits of manifesting the ground as it is are shown. The essence of what is to be realized is combined with the chapter on the ground of the path, the self-abiding place of wisdom. The method of realization, the instruction, can be combined with seeing the self-abiding place, which is what the Victorious Yung desires. The scripture that previously explained the individual of the basis is combined with the seventh chapter, the uninterrupted path accumulation practice. Second, the characteristic of the entering condition, samadhi, has six aspects: the great need for why to meditate, the method of how to meditate, that itself is self-appearing in everything, from that, meditating on the wheel of the mandala, that itself is primordially pure, so it is shown by example to be free from acceptance and rejection, and by becoming familiar with that, connecting to the result. The first is: "Things, etc.," two lines. Thus, the dharmas that appear as various things, at the very time of appearance, realizing that there is not even a particle of thing established, the method of empowering for that purpose is samadhi. The second is: "Whoever, elephant, etc.," two lines. Whoever, the meditator, this untamed elephant, like an elephant drunk with alcohol, whose mind is drunk with various confused thoughts, is unusable. Just as a skilled elephant trainer tames an elephant with methods such as a hook, relying on either of the two methods of equipoise through the power of instruction or wisdom, in the state of reality of the meaning of realization, when tamed by placing it without object, self-luminous, then all the confused thoughts that grasp at things and characteristics are pacified, and abiding in the state of the ground as it is, is tamed. Thus, the need and the method of meditation, these two, are the samadhi of suchness, the great emptiness.
