Through clear visualization, one can see the colors of the five winds. At night, sleep with a high pillow, the body in the posture of a lion, the key point of speech is to let the breath naturally subside, and the key point of mind is to fall asleep in a state of non-discrimination. This will result in no dreams, and upon waking, the mind will be in a state of clear emptiness, which is the attainment of luminosity. Alternatively, if sleep is very light, one will see a dim light in a dark room, and the appearance of emptiness will be seen, and one will wake up. By striving in this way, meditation and post-meditation will gradually merge. During the gathering, the signs and appearances will be clearer and more extensive than before, and the sounds and smells of emptiness will also appear. The bindus will also radiate various colors of light, appearing as a faint shimmering state, which is a state possessing the five rare qualities. In the center of that bindu is the body of the Buddha. The object of focus is fixed in the center of the bindu, the time is fixed in all meditation and post-meditation, and the form is fixed as possessing all the marks and signs, which is possessing the three certainties. One will also see lines of light, and one will also attain the five supernormal powers such as the divine eye and the divine ear. The third is the limb of life-force exertion, which is the effort to block the breath flowing from the two channels on the left and right, and to make it enter the central channel in sequence. First, purifying the channels through the Vajra recitation: the body posture is the same as other postures, the gaze is slightly upward from straight ahead, focusing on the space between the eyebrows. Exhale the stale air, and focus the mind without distraction on the three stages of breath entering, staying, and exiting. When the breath enters, mentally recite Om When the breath stays inside, mentally recite Hum When the breath exits, mentally recite Ah By striving in this way, the breath will become gentle. Gradually, the breath will become weak and even tend to stop. If it stops, then try to start it, so that the flow of the channels will become clear, and the colors of the five winds will be seen, and so on. The second is to make the life-force enter the central channel by filling and releasing the gentle breath. Observe from which nostril the breath is flowing. If the breath is flowing from the right nostril, then press the right breast with the palm of the left hand, place the hand in the armpit, press down with the right arm, and exhale the stale air. Turn the face and eyes to the left, and block the left nostril with the thumb of the right hand. Inhale strongly and deeply through the right nostril, pressing down on the navel. Hold the breath slightly until it becomes unbearable, then turn the face and eyes to the right, place both the left and right hands in the armpits, and use the thumb of the left hand

Alternately block the right nostril and exhale forcefully from the left. Similarly, when air flows through the left nostril, block the left nostril and exhale from the right. Practice by placing the left and right hands under the armpits, etc., reversing the previous method to learn to control inhalation and exhalation. Repeat this alternately several times, and when the breath becomes smooth, visualize vase breathing. This is highly praised for practicing longevity. Third, the coarse wind vase breathing binds the life force to the central channel: It is best if the breath flows smoothly. If the breath flows from either the left or right side, use the breathing technique just described to correct the imbalance and make it flow smoothly. After expelling nine times the impure air from the left, right, and center, slightly tighten the lower air, quickly inhale the upper air, and swallow saliva along with the method of pressing towards the navel. Forcefully contract the lower air and hold the vase breath at the navel as much as possible. If it feels unbearable, take three short breaths and squeeze. If it is still unbearable, slowly, thinly, and forcefully exhale completely. Here, make a sound by circling the palm once on the knee. Being able to maintain thirty-six, seventy-two, and one hundred and eight finger snaps is known as small, medium, and large vase breathing. For these, mainly the emptiness of form, and the awareness that experiences the tactile sensation of breath, settle this single awareness in the state of one's own nature. After meditating slightly, when the breath is exhaled, meditate in a way that focuses on the emptiness of form. When the breath is inhaled, experience the appearance of form as the essence of mind, and settle the mind in its own nature. When the breath remains inside, settle the breath, the emptiness of form, and the mind equally, so that the experiencer, the feeler, the knower, and the seer dissolve into the realm of reality, and remain in a state of non-effort. Thus, it is said in the Compendium of Ascetics: "With self-awareness to the soles of the feet, all filled with breath, relying on vase breathing, it is destroyed by three distinctions." These life-force operations, if there is a headache, tightness in the chest, seeing signs like a wheel of light, and experiencing the feeling of it rising upwards, then temporarily stop practicing, or meditate on objects of thought that can liberate.
