Straighten the body, slightly curve the neck, extend the arms like a soaring eagle's wings, affix the tongue to the upper palate, and keep the lips and teeth in their natural state. The gaze should not cause the eyelashes to touch, the eyeballs should not move, but rather be directed downwards towards the tip of the nose. As Gyalse (རྒྱལ་སྲས) Drime Drakpa Dawa Senge (དྲི་མེད་གྲགས་པ་ཟླ་བ་སེང་གེ) said: "By the greatness of arranging the interdependent body, experience arises in the mind; this is the key to the posture of the body's wheel." The wheel of speech is called "Effortless Wind of Bodhicitta," which means without effort, keep the breath natural. The wheel of mind is to gather the mind, eyes, and tip of the nose into one, and without letting any good or bad thoughts taint it, let it rest naturally. By resting in this way, non-conceptual wisdom arises, and one knows that its own nature abides in its natural state. As the nun Lhamo Pelgyi Senge (ལྷ་མོ་དཔལ་གྱི་སེང་གེ) said: "The essence is like a frog, opening the light of the golden sun, the wisdom of realization will appear impartially. Understand the key to the symbolic meaning of Mahamudra!" Therefore, in order to recognize that ordinary consciousness is empty from the beginning, let it rest naturally. If you cannot abide in this, and you do not recognize emptiness, then let the thoughts relax naturally. As the Doha says: "This mind itself, bound by ropes, if loosened, there is no doubt of liberation." If you recognize emptiness, then break it with clarity: in a firm way, and by meditating, the progress becomes better and better. As the guide Pelgyi Nyingpo (དཔལ་གྱི་སྙིང་པོ) said: "By breaking through the radiance of meditative equipoise, in order to abide, therefore progress becomes better, so short sessions and many repetitions are the key to not being overcome by sinking and excitement." Thus, adjust according to the length and number of sessions, and without being controlled by sinking and excitement, alternately practice restraining and relaxing. If thoughts are cut off at the root, and one abides in clear, non-conceptual wisdom, then one should be introduced, and there are three: introducing the essence as emptiness, knowing the nature as clarity, and knowing the characteristic as radiance. First, introducing the essence as emptiness: through the three wheels, let consciousness rest without support. There are three ways to introduce it, starting with the external soun

Cutting off attachments is: The appearances of external phenomena, no matter how they appear, no matter how clear they are, are not truly established in the external world. They are the deluded appearances of one's own mind, like the spectacles of a dream. As the Sutra says: These are merely perceptions, not real because they appear as objects. For example, those with blurred vision see non-existent things like hairs and moons. Cutting off internal attachments is: If appearances are deluded appearances of one's own mind, then what is the nature of the mind itself? When the mind looks at the mind, the mind has no cause of arising, no basis of abiding, and its own nature is not established in any way, like clear sky. As the Mother Sutra says: There is no mind on the mind; the nature of the mind is luminosity. And as the Ornament of the Sutras says: Having understood all phenomena as one's own mind through intelligence, then one also understands that the mind itself is non-existent. Cutting off intermediate attachments is: If appearances are deluded appearances of one's own mind, and the mind itself is emptiness in which nothing is established, then what are these various movements of memory and awareness? This is the unobstructed manifestation of the self-power of emptiness, like the wind in the sky or a bubble in water. There is no place of origin in the beginning, no place to go in the end, no place to stay in the middle, and its own nature is not established in any way, but its power manifests without obstruction. As the Doha says: Whatever emanates from the mind is the nature of the Protector (Tibetan: མགོན་པོ།). Are water and water waves different? Second, knowing how to abide in the clarity of one's own nature is to abide and become accustomed to the meaning of having cut off attachments earlier. Look intently and rest in a state where nothing is established. Rest relaxedly in the meaning of no effort or striving. Break apart sharply and rest in the nature of no fabrication. By resting in this way, three experiences arise: an experience of not following after objects, being free from conceptual thought; an experience of not clinging to experiences, being free from attachment; and an experience of being beyond thought, being free from meditation. Third, knowing how to be liberated from the arising of characteristics is: If, in the state of resting like this, conceptual thoughts arise, what should one do? At that time, there is no need to abandon conceptual thoughts; by looking intently at the conceptual thought itself, nothing is established. Like a wave of water or the wind in the clear sky, the movement naturally clears and is seen nakedly and liberated nakedly, without moving from that state, abiding in equanimity.
