Ground, based on the three immovables of wind, awareness, and non-movement, sequentially. The key is to strike the channels and winds, thereby stopping conceptual thoughts. Since the manifest realm is clear, the mind's speculation is free from the shackles of words. Since the nature of reality abides in its own state, mother and child merge, and in the primordial space, one recites (Om Mani Padme Hum). By gazing intently at the signs with bindus and bloodlines, the key is to simply abide in the self-face of the signs, in a state of awareness, without fabrication or distraction. The measure of meditation during the bardo of reality is determined by the duration of time one remains in equanimity in the appearance of clear light. Therefore, when shamatha and vipashyana are combined, and the experience of spontaneously accomplished wisdom arises, surpassing the duration of samadhi, it is difficult to define its limits. Generally speaking, abiding in meditation, without interruption by conceptual thoughts, one measures by the length of time one abides. The key to being able to liberate in the bardo of reality is to become proficient in the four clear light appearances from now on, so one measures by the degree of dream practice. After taking birth in Sukhavati and other pure lands, one must be a noble being. However, it is said that some ordinary beings can also reach there, because liberation through other-power is undeniable. If a yogi who has perfected the four appearances implants awareness into ordinary sentient beings, then, due to the key of the naturally arising wisdom abiding in awareness, it is said that one can attain Buddhahood even without good or bad karma. Furthermore, when the compassion of encountering objects matures, and the time for taming arrives, even if a single ray of light emanates from the Buddha's body, it can place limitless sentient beings in nirvana, and so on, such examples can be cited as illustrations. The three appearances during the stage of dissolution are: the signs of the dissolution of the four elements, such as the four mirages, and the five-colored lights of the five elements gathering together appear first. Like moonlight in a clear cloudless sky, sunlight, and being enveloped by darkness, the three lights of appearance, increase, and near-attainment are symbolized by the three paths of white, red, and black. And, like the clear sky at dawn, the appearance of clear light in which everything is empty is known as appearance. Among these, the coarse appearance occurs at the time of death, the intermediate appearance occurs during sleep and sexual activity, and the subtle appearance occurs in the appearances of the six consciousnesses when awake. The four appearances of the path are:

This refers to attaining the stages of the four appearances through the power of the path's meditation. Furthermore, may you know that even the pleasing visits from the pure activities that transform into the causes for the health of the body and the profound meaning of the practice of the holders of the lineage, are like the flow of a river. Offer the blessed substances with mantras, knots, or objects during the session breaks. To the ears of the renunciate, the great accomplished one, Changeless Light, this special offering. Recently, your body is clear like a lake, and you have firmly severed the clinging to this life. Relying on meager provisions to survive in an uninhabited wilderness, you have established a place of practice and are diligently striving to maintain the commitment to the profound meaning. The handwritten letters, mother-and-child images, blessed scarves, two pieces of woolen cloth, and crystal rosary that you sent have arrived intact, and I am very pleased. Here, to fulfill the intentions of the supreme, incomparable King of Dharma (Tsongkhapa), all the external offerings have been completed, and now, during the annual festival, we are preparing to establish a great accomplishment practice of the Kagye Deshek (Eight Heruka Deities) in the monastery. Previously, it seemed that you had recognized the face of equanimity, but if you do not cling to the experience of comfort and clarity that arises with just barely maintained mindfulness, to the object of experience and the desire to experience, then that is the key. In the present situation, whatever arises, be certain that it is your own mind. Since the nature of mind arises as rootless, clear, empty, and without grasping, in the state of equanimity, the body, appearances, mind, etc., no longer cling to differences, and abide openly and freely without any obstruction, so no conceptual thoughts arise. Even if they arise, it is enough to simply recognize them. Although appearance and mind are mixed, and it seems as if appearances are arising as meditation, it is still necessary to distinguish whether or not it is necessary to rely on the mindfulness of emptiness as an object. Therefore, if this independent appearance and awareness, in self-awareness and self-illumination, is free from any effort and negation, then appearances arising as meditation will not completely depend on the mindfulness of an object. Therefore, if you do not cling to any effort, then whatever arises will naturally liberate, and arise in a wide and free manner, that is the key. In general, maintain your virtuous practice through the three ways of walking, staying, and sitting. In this way, when you look at the nature of realization with the gaze of staring and staring-liberation, because you look at external phenomena, illusory appearances appear as unreal, like illusions, and in the state of realization there is no clinging, so you relax. The inner Dharma nature
