A Compilation of Answers to Various Questions. From "The Essence of the Sun, a Well-Spoken Elucidation Dispelling the Darkness of Confusion Regarding Questions and Answers." Herein is contained a compilation of answers to various questions. The questions and answers of Gyase Zhabdrung Kunchok Sherab. Furthermore, GyaltsabMipham Gon in the Ornament of Sutras says: "Bodhisattvas constantly, In the householder wheel-turning kings, Are born in all lifetimes, To benefit all sentient beings." Thus, the noble Bodhisattvas are skilled in means, and in order to tame sentient beings, they manifest limitless forms, such as wheel-turning kings, according to what is appropriate for each being. This is the nature of reality. So, when does a wheel-turning king appear in the world? The Treasury of Manifest Knowledge says: "The appearance of a wheel-turner, Is not later than eight thousand." Therefore, they appear from the immeasurable lifespan to eight thousand years. They do not appear shorter or later than this, because their merit is not complete. So, how many types of wheel-turning kings are there who rule the kingdom with such a wheel? The Treasury says: "Gold, silver, copper, iron wheel possessors, Each of them rules one, two, three, and four continents in descending order." Thus, the supreme gold-wheeled wheel-turning king rules the four continents. Similarly, the next best silver-wheeled wheel-turning king rules three continents, the middling copper-wheeled wheel-turning king rules two continents, and the last iron-wheeled wheel-turning king rules one continent. The way of ruling is: "Welcomed by others, going by oneself, merely arraying troops, and using weapons, winning without harm is subduing." Thus, the gold-wheeled king conquers all directions by the manner in which the minor kings of other countries come to welcome him. Similarly, the silver-wheeled king goes by himself, the copper-wheeled king merely arrays troops, and the iron-wheeled king subdues and conquers by arraying troops and then using weapons. Since they establish their subjects on the path of the ten virtues, there is no harm such as killing the lives of others. The difference in qualities is, the Commentary on the Treasury says: "They also have the thirty-two marks of a great being, like the Buddhas, etc."

It is said like that, however, the Buddha's name is excellent and different. The name of Shakyamuni abides in a place that does not change, and it is superior because it is clear and complete in light and parts. As it is said in the Abhisamayalankara: "If the name is not clear, it becomes the lord of men, becoming the master of the four continents. Because the name of Shakyamuni is very clear, the excellent person becomes a Buddha and turns the wheel of Dharma." Also, as it is said in the Abhidharmakosha: "The name of Shakyamuni abides in the place, and it is superior because it is clear and complete." That's what it says. Furthermore, in the past, when a Chakravartin appeared in the world, the son of the elephant protector of the earth picked up the king with his nose and placed him on a golden throne. From the place of the Thirty-Three, he took a nectar vase filled with the water of the immaculate heavenly river, and from the crown of his head, he was consecrated as a Chakravartin. It is said like that. The difference in the qualities of these Chakravartins is, as it is said in the Mahavyutpatti: "The Chakravartin who conquers the four directions, possesses Dharma, and becomes a Dharma king possessing the seven jewels." The seven jewels are: the wheel jewel, the queen jewel, the jewel jewel, the householder jewel, the elephant jewel, the horse jewel, and the minister jewel. As it is said. As it is said in the Abhisamayalankara Sutra and the Vinaya Pitaka. Among them, the "woman" mentioned in this treatise refers to the queen jewel, the "householder" refers to the minister jewel, and the "minister" refers to the general jewel. In addition, the wheel jewel is as it is said in the Abhisamayalankara Sutra: "Made of divine substance, the center is extremely round, possessing a thousand spokes, the rim is extremely even and good, victorious over hateful enemies, the wheel jewel is said to be precious." The material is made of the essence of four divine substances such as gold and silver, the shape is extremely round in the center, the thousand spokes are radiant, and it has a rim, which is naturally formed without being made by craftsmen. The king, a Kshatriya, is consecrated from the crown of his head, on the Uposatha day, that is, the fifteenth day, he bathes in the corridor on top of the palace, surrounded by a group of women.
