And, may your activities of explanation and practice, which are unwavering in their definitive meaning, increase like the waxing moon, and may you also grant assemblies from time to time, which we know and remember well. In the future, we also request that you grant our wish to meet you in person. We offer this pure white scarf as a symbol of presenting this letter, and we also include a marked list of scriptures, may all be auspicious and perfect! The reply from Banpa Khyungtsang Lama: Okay. In the "Namashtaka Empowerment Nectar Stream," "no less than one hundred and eight sessions" is a typo. The manuscript here says: "Recite one hundred and eight times each time, or no less than twenty-one times each time." The mandala of the Ten Wrathful Ones is depicted with an eight-spoke wheel, but it is not contradictory to say that there are ten deities to be visualized, because the two spokes on the top and bottom of the painting are difficult to draw. Regarding "the shape of the outer five-peaked stupa," this is like the Kagye Sangdzog mandala, referring to the fact that in the center of the mandala and on the four tiers of the platform, vases and other objects are made into the shape of a stupa. This is according to the Sangdzog Self-Arising Commentary written by Orgyen (Padmasambhava), which can still be used today as a guide for practice and meditation, and is very convenient. Regarding how to visualize the three mandalas of Vajrapani, that is, "I arise as the Samaya Vajrapani, above is the Lama Vajrapani," this refers to visualizing the vase set up in front as the outer vase, and visualizing the palace inside, on the lotus and sun in the center of the ocean of nectar, the Lama Vajrapani resides below the mandala of the vase that is its support, and the Yidam Vajrapani and all supports are visualized as arising like oneself. Therefore, the so-called "above" refers to the top of the Yidam, and "in front" refers to the front of one's own Samaya being. At the time of invitation, the light rays of the three mandalas are emitted to stimulate; at the time of absorption, the mandala of the Lama is absorbed into the Yidam, and the supports of the Yidam are absorbed into the main deity, and then the light dissolves into the Samaya mandala, and the mandala of the Samaya being is absorbed in stages. From this it seems that there are a total of six mandalas before and after, but it is only a repetition of the way of explanation.

The object of meditation appears as the three mandalas. It is said that reciting the mantra once during the invocation is the same as the long mantra encircling the Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) at the heart. During the Abhisamaya of the Snur method, immeasurable rays of light emanate from the mantras at the hearts of all three deities. The three deities here are the Lama, the Yidam, and the Samaya Vajrapani. One must focus on the mantras at the hearts of these three deities. For example, during wrathful practice, from the hearts of Vajrapani and others. However, in the texts of that tradition, it is said that each of their seed syllables is surrounded by three mantras. Since the seed syllables at the hearts of the three mandalas are surrounded by the long mantra, it seems to imply that the heart mantra and near-heart mantra are also included within the long mantra. Regarding the method of encircling the mantra garland, visualize as follows: At the hearts of the three mandalas visualized in this way, on top of the lotus arising from Paṃ (藏文:པཾ,梵文天城体:प,梵文罗马拟音:paṃ,汉语字面意思:莲花) and the moon disc arising from A (藏文:ཨ,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:无), visualize one blue Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) each, and finally visualize the long mantra encircling them in dark blue. I think this is what it means, so it seems there is no need for further explanation. Furthermore, during the preliminary stage of a session, after offering a seat to the Lama and making supplications, is it necessary to dissolve the Lama into oneself? Offer the Lama a precious throne with layers of lotus, sun, and moon, or simply visualize a lotus, sun, and moon seat as convenient. After making supplications, the Lama dissolves into light and merges into oneself, abandoning the dualistic perception of one's own mind and the Lama's mind. Rest in equanimity for a moment, and then enter the main practice of the session. After Vajrasattva dissolves into oneself, is it necessary to think that oneself also becomes without object of reference? Please explain how to release and relax into the state of great bliss, completely purified of the three spheres. After Vajrasattva dissolves into oneself as light, rest in equanimity in the state of the three spheres without object of reference, without specifically gathering for oneself. The three spheres refer to the Lama Vajrasattva, the object of confession; oneself, the confessor; and the sins and obscurations to be confessed—all three are placed in a state without object of reference. As stated in the Sutra of Extensive Ten Directions: "If one wishes to make amends, sit upright and look correctly. Look correctly at reality itself. Seeing reality, one is liberated. This is the supreme confession." Regarding the mandala, wisdom does not stray from the state of great bliss, completely purified of the three spheres.
