Just as the Blessed One demonstrated the act of subduing the maras before attaining enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, similarly, before such a grand and auspicious enthronement, after clearing away unfavorable factors through purification rituals, for the throne possessing the nature of the ten powers, four fearlessnesses, miraculous feet, ten masteries, and four activities of the Tathagata, invite him forward with an array of wondrous offerings. Just as when a Chakravartin king appears in the world, the son of the elephant protector takes a precious vessel filled with nectar from the abode of the thirty-three gods, pours it on his head, bathes him, and then bestows the kingdom; and just as when the Dharma King, the Buddha Bhagavan, appears in the world, the kings of the gods and nagas bathe his body with divine water, preceded by auspicious verses of the Three Jewels, as described in the Bodhicharyavatara, starting from the construction of the bathhouse, bathe the holy body with various excellent means of music and dance. After that, should we combine it with a ritual like the prayer for long life? Or, gathering together all the special qualities of the activities and aspirations of all the Tathagatas, in order to ensure that he never disappears from the unsurpassed activity of benefiting gods and humans as a teacher as long as samsara exists, visualize the form of the Tathagata Amitayus, immeasurable life and wisdom. Just like opening a sesame pod, without any gap, gather the splendor of the body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of all the Buddhas who dwell pervading space, bind them immovably with mudras, and offer common offerings.
