According to the omens, the tantric scriptures actually descended into the human realm. The Kriya Tantras descended in Varanasi, the Yoga Tantras descended on the burning peak of Mount Meru, the Maha Yoga Tantras descended above the palace of King Za in the land of Sahor, and the Anu Yoga Tantras descended with the scriptures in the forest of the island of Simhala, known as the land of Lanka. It is said that the Ati Yoga Tantras were compiled and written down in scriptures by the great teacher Garab Dorje in the western land of Oddiyana, as he had actually heard them from glorious Vajrasattva or Vajrapani. As for the practice section, in the past, in the supreme secret abode of Akanishta, the teacher Samantabhadra, the Great Heruka, proclaimed the tantras with the self-sound of dharmata, and the Lord of Secrets, Vajradharma himself, manifested them within the mandala of the nine assemblies, and initially compiled them orally. Then, they were written down in scriptures, and he also composed five commentaries as explanations, and entrusted them to the Dakini, Lasya Wangmo Che. She separated the general and specific tantras, placed them in individual jeweled boxes, and hid them as treasures in the stupa of Sukhavati. At one time, eight accomplished masters commanded the treasure protectors. The Dakini entrusted the eight boxes of specific tantras to the eight masters who were destined to receive them. The box of general tantras, made of eight kinds of jewels, could not be opened, so it was reburied in the same place. Later, the all-encompassing Vidyadhara, the great teacher Padmasambhava, invited them forth and excellently imparted them to the nine or twenty-five heart-sons of the king and subjects. According to the reputation of the New Secret Mantra, King Indrabhuti of Oddiyana wrote the tantras into scriptures and showed them to the people, so that even the smallest creatures in that land attained accomplishment and went into rainbow bodies. Then, the land of Oddiyana became an empty lake, filled with nagas, to whom the Lord of Secrets entrusted the tantric systems and ripened them. Gradually, they transformed into humans, established villages by the lake, and attained accomplishment through practice. The sons and daughters of those people became dakas and dakinis, and it was known as the Oddiyana Dakini Continent. That lake also dried up, and a self-arisen Heruka temple also appeared. The wealth there

In the treasury were kept the volumes of tantras. Later, accomplished masters such as King Vasukalpa, Nagarjuna, and Kukkuripa took a large portion of the tantras from there. Similarly, it is believed that they were also taken from other places such as Shambhala and gradually propagated. The difference between the new and old is that in India, there is no separation, but in Tibet, there is a distinction between early and late translations. The earlier translators, such as the Pandit Sangye Sangwa, Bodhisattva, the Ugyen master Padmasambhava, the great Pandit Vimalamitra, and the translators Vairochana, Ma, Gya, Ka, and Zhang, from the time of their translations until the appearance of Pandit Smriti, all sutras, tantras, and commentaries translated were called Nyingma or Early Translation. From the beginning of the translation by the great translator Rinchen Zangpo, until the great and small translators Mar, Mal, Go, Drok, Ra, Dro, etc., invited various Indian and Nepalese Pandits to translate, these were known as Sarma or Later Translation. The reason why these two translations differ in ease of understanding and greatness in measuring the essence is that the earlier translators were all emanations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and they translated after ascertaining the meaning as it is, so the words are easy to understand and they are great at measuring the essence. The later translators, at that time, favored certain teachings that were not well-known in Tibet, and after setting their goals, the scholars who studied by traveling back and forth to India and Nepal several times did not fully understand the meaning as it is, and mainly focused on phonetic translation, so the words are stiff, difficult to understand, and seem to be less effective in measuring the essence. For example, by looking at the translations of the Guhyagarbha Tantra by Ma and Gya and the translation by Thar Lo, one can know the difference between the early and late translations. Moreover, the Early Translation was translated at a time when the Sangha in India had not declined, so apart from about thirteen new translations by Thar Lo, all the sutras and the outer tantras, mainly of the Action Tantra, and the tantras common with the new schools, such as Manjushri Net, Guhyasamaja, and Yamantaka, were also translated a lot. The way the tantra classes originated also converged into one without any difference. And the teachings of Anu, the instructions of Ati, and the tantras with the practice sections, which were not used by the later translators
