Now, let's discuss the reasons for doing so. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'Just as wounds and food, through them, can be endured and enjoyed, like desiring maturity. Therefore, in this basis, the pacification of both sides and complete enjoyment are shown as maturity.' Similarly, in the Paramita Vehicle, this basis is taken as the standard for the maturity of being able to abandon what is to be abandoned by seeing and being able to generate the path of seeing. Likewise, having entered the Unsurpassed Yoga Vehicle, assuming that one practices without interruption, then in this very life, one can gain the ability to abandon what should be abandoned and to attain the supreme accomplishment that can be attained. Therefore, receiving empowerment itself is the standard for the maturity of the continuum, just as when water, fertilizer, warmth, and moisture are abundant, seeds fall into the field. Third, from the word 'Abhisheka' (Tibetan: ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अभिषिञ्च, Sanskrit Romanization: abhiṣiñca, literal Chinese meaning: empowerment), because of completely pouring out or bestowing, it is called empowerment, that is, pouring out the impurities to be purified and establishing the ability to practice the path and to attain the fruit. As stated in the Hevajra Tantra: 'What is called pouring out and bestowing, therefore it is called empowerment.' Fourth, among the three empowerments of cause, path, and fruit, the empowerment of the causal time must first be received directly from the guru, because it is the empowerment of maturation, and if so, then it must be obtained before practicing the path. The empowerment of the path time, later, can be received from the guru or by oneself who possesses vows, because it is the empowerment that continuously increases the flow of the empowerment that has already matured the continuum. The empowerment of the fruit time is conferred at the final stage of the completion of the path of learning, because it is the empowerment that connects one with the ultimate fruit. The empowerment of the causal time is also definitely fourfold, because the impurities to be purified are four, the generation and completion stages that purify are four, and the four bodies of the fruit to be purified are also definite. Some people grasp the literal meaning of the statement in the Lamp on the Path, 'The secret wisdom empowerment should not be received by celibates,' and say that this empowerment should not be conferred on monks, which is unreasonable, because in that case, all monks would be unfit vessels for the unsurpassed profound path. If they also think so, then it contradicts the Kalachakra Tantra, which says that monks are the best basis for mantras. Fifth, the manner of conferring includes: the teacher who confers, the disciple to whom it is conferred, and the ritual of how it is conferred. First, in general

Oh, from (here). Regarding examining the characteristics of a teacher: Wisdom Essence, listen! Stable and disciplined, without deceit. Knows the union of the secret mantra tantras. Skilled in the work of drawing mandalas. Completely knows those ten realities. Bestows fearlessness upon sentient beings. Always rejoices in the Great Vehicle. It is said that this is a teacher. Thus it is said. Those ten realities are: From the "Vajra Essence Ornament Tantra," the rituals of repelling and returning, secret, wisdom, and supreme wisdom, as well as the rituals of uniting and separating, the recitation of the Vajra Torma, the rituals of fierce wrathful actions, perfectly abiding and accomplishing the mandala, are the ten secret realities. Mandala, meditation, mudra, posture, stance, sitting posture, recitation, fire offering, offering, the union of actions, and the form of gathering again, are the ten external realities. Thus, the ten internal and external realities that are spoken of are what the teachers of the Unsurpassed and Lower Tantra classes must know. In particular, in "Fearsome Lightning," it says: The retreat that is complete with time, number, and signs is most important. Thus it is said, whichever of the three—time, number, or signs—after completing the retreat, along with the fire offering to make up for deficiencies, if a student requests from a teacher who has completed these, examine the vessel, and if it is suitable, purify obstacles and protect it. And also teach the essential instructions for practicing the tantra. In order to request permission from the deity for oneself, engage in completing the retreat. This is a commitment that a teacher who seeks the benefit of others must not violate. Secondly: possessing qualities such as faith, diligence, wisdom, generosity, and reliance on meditation, practice, and vows. Loves practice and meditation, always respects the guru, and makes offerings to the guru at the three times, is a student with qualities. Thus it is said. From the "Secret Essence Instructions," it says: One who possesses faith, diligence, and asceticism is a vessel. Thus it is said. Thirdly: As it is said in the "Hevajra Assembly Tantra": First is the ritual of the earth, second is the stage of preparation, third is the ritual of entering. As it is said, first is the ritual of the earth, second is preparation, third is the ritual of the main practice. Among the first four, examination is: Generally, examining the investigation of the three realms of heaven, earth, and humans, that is, examining the foundation of the earth. Specifically, digging and probing from the abdomen of the womb.
