One should abandon the five things for survival, the five things that are not objects of practice, evil friends, holding evil views, and other demonic activities, being bound by views, and the four causes that exhaust virtue, etc. Furthermore, other branch downfalls also include failures in the precepts of body, speech, and mind, which are prohibitions and accomplishments, except for the root downfalls. These include failures in the precepts of prohibition, such as meaningless running and jumping, speaking frivolous words, not abandoning attachment and aversion, etc., and failures in the precepts of accomplishment, such as looking down with lowered eyes, saying "Welcome," cultivating loving-kindness and compassion, and practicing mindfulness, awareness, and diligence. It is said that all the faults of those with middling and inferior faculties are included within these. Secondly, the system of Asanga has two aspects: the precepts of aspiration and the precepts of engagement. The first is divided into: general and specific explanations of the eight white and black dharmas. The first is: The precepts of aspiration in the system of Asanga are: not abandoning sentient beings and remembering the benefits, accumulating merit, striving to cultivate bodhicitta, and aspiring to adopt and abandon the eight white and black dharmas. As it says, there are five. Among them, the fundamental precept, the means to not lose the aspirational mind, is not abandoning sentient beings. That is, if any sentient being upsets one's mind, and one thinks, "Now, even if there is an opportunity to benefit you, I will not give it; even if there is an opportunity to avert harm, I will not avert it," this is abandoning that sentient being. Conversely, even if one bestows kindness and the other repays with harm, one should still repay with compassion. This is not abandoning sentient beings. As it says in the Sutra Requested by Maitreya: "If a bodhisattva possesses one dharma, he will completely possess all the supreme Buddha dharmas. What is that one dharma? It is not abandoning sentient beings." Thus it is said. Always cherishing the benefits of bodhicitta by remembering them is the means of not degenerating. As it says in the Lamp for the Path: "Thus, the merits of generating the aspirational mind, are well explained by Maitreya in the Array of Trees Sutra." One should carefully examine the two hundred and thirty examples explained in the Array of Trees Sutra.

It should be remembered. Preceding with virtuous intention, engage in meritorious deeds such as generosity, and that, the accumulation of wisdom, which is encompassed by the non-conceptualization of the three spheres. Accumulating the union of the two accumulations is to increase the power of that mind. As it is said in the words of the Accumulations: "Today, whatever merit I do, and whatever accumulation of wisdom, and whatever benefits sentient beings, the Bodhisattva always thinks." Thus it is said. Furthermore, diligently training the mind of enlightenment again and again is the means of increasing it. Training on the cause is meditating on love and compassion. Training on the actual mind is taking up and abandoning the mind of enlightenment six times day and night. Training on the conduct of a Bodhisattva is dedicating one's own happiness and virtue to sentient beings and taking the sins and sufferings of others upon oneself, practicing the exchange of self and others. As it is said in the Lamp for the Path: "Having generated the mind of aspiring to enlightenment, one should increase it everywhere with much effort." Thus it is said. As a means of not forgetting the mind of enlightenment, the Omniscient Great One said: "In short, the four black dharmas should be abandoned, and one should be diligent in the four white dharmas." Thus, one should take and abandon the eight black and white dharmas without error. These are also as the Venerable Gampopa said: "Not abandoning sentient beings, remembering the benefits of that mind, accumulating the two accumulations, repeatedly training the Bodhicitta, taking and abandoning the eight black and white dharmas, these five summarize the training of the aspiration mind." As it is said. The second is: Deceiving those worthy of offerings and generating regret where there should be no regret, slandering the holy and practicing deceit towards beings. Abandon the four black dharmas, and conversely, practice the four white dharmas. Thus it is said. Deceiving the lama and khenpo acharyas with falsehoods, etc., the four black dharmas should be abandoned. As it is said in the chapter requested by Light Protector in the Precious Heap Sutra: "Light Protector, if one possesses four dharmas, one will forget the mind of enlightenment. What are the four? They are deceiving the lama and those worthy of offerings, generating regret where there should be no cause for regret, speaking ill of the Bodhisattva who has generated the mind of enlightenment with hatred, and practicing deceit and trickery towards sentient beings." Thus it is said. Conversely, turning away from those four is the four white dharmas, therefore one should practice them. In that very sutra it says: Light Protector, if one possesses four dharmas, one will
